Abstract:

A method for positioning a large diameter shaft from the surface into the earth and at least partially through a subterranean oil-bearing formation, said method comprising (a) Positioning a central well near the center of a selected shaft location, said central well extending at least partially through said oil-bearing formation; (b) Positioning a plurality of wells at a selected distance outside the diameter of said shaft and about said shaft, said wells extending at least partially through said oil-bearing formation; (c) Injecting a fluid through at least a portion of said wells into said oil-bearing formation to remove oil from said oil-bearing formation; (d) Producing fluids from said central well; (e) Injecting water into said oil-bearing formation through said portion of said wells after the injection of said fluid through said portion of the said wells; (f) Freezing a zone about said location; and, (g) Excavating said shaft.

Abstract:

A spout for a gasoline nozzle providing vapor control for gasoline vapor produced during the filling of a vehicle tank. The spout includes a curved rigid tube having an inlet end for attachment to an outlet of a gasoline nozzle and an outlet end adapted to extend into the mouth of a fill tube of a vehicle tank. A rigid housing surrounds the tube and has a rearward end in sealing engagement about the tube, a forward end and a vapor outlet port. The housing defines, with the wall of the tube, a vapor receiving chamber therebetween. Vapor passages are located at the forward end of the housing which communicates with the chamber and the port as well as with the vehicle tank. The forward end of the housing is supported by a sleeve having a rearward end which extends into the forward end of the housing and a forward end that extends into the fill tube of the tank, the forward end of the sleeve having openings for the receipt of vapor from the tank which communicate with said passages. A lock pin at the rearward end of the housing engages the housing and the tube to secure the rearward end of the housing on the tube. The forward end of the sleeve is sized to draw air from outside the vehicle tank as well as vapor from within the tank.

Abstract:

Disclosed are covers for a mobile phone including aspects that protect the phone from impact and/or provide shock absorbance characteristics. Covers can include one or more protrusions that reduce the contact surface to the phone and dissipate energy. Advantageously, the one or more protrusions work with intermittent spaces to provide shock absorbing characteristics and reduce the contact surface area between the cover and the phone. In some embodiments, the protrusions can include a soft-side rectangular shape, where the protrusions are placed in an ordered array in the back wall of a cover. In some embodiments, the one or more protrusions can include a row of x-shaped protrusions interspersed with air pockets along the inside wall of the cover.
