Abstract:

An on-demand program access system for broadband, frequency division multiplexed cable television signals, one or more infrastructure element (IF) constituting a local video network signal server has a plurality of subscriber premise equipment elements (SPEE) served thereby. Each SPEE constitutes a video network client. Coaxial premise wiring connects each SPEE with the IE for conducting RF modulated programming signals and bi-directional data signals between the IE and each respective SPEE using out-of-band signaling so that there is no overlap between the programming signals and the bi-directional data signals.

Abstract:

A method and apparatus for a zone detection system in which assets and personnel to be monitored are assigned a transmitter that emits a transmitter signal that includes a common code and a unique code. Processing requirements associated with restricted zone monitoring are reduced by scanning received signals for the single common code or a relatively small number of common codes. Processing requirements associated with locating an individual transmitter are reduced by scanning for a single transmitter signal. Transmitter signals are relayed by sub-sector RF-relays to a centralized sector signal processing computer. One or more signal processing computers interface with a system controller that supports a centralized user interface configurable to manage one or more sectors. CDMA matched filter techniques, power signature maps, and two-dimensional/three-dimensional convolution techniques are used to efficiently detect signals and to refine the estimated location a specific transmitter or a group of transmitters.

Abstract:

This invention relates to a novel receiver architecture, the Charge-Coupled-Device Integrated Receiver (IR), which simplifies electronic circuitry requirements and reduce baseband processing rates through efficient signal processing. The focus of this receiver's design is its use of Charge-Coupled-Device (CCD) technology. By using CCD's, in conjunction with other key technologies, to implement the signal processing techniques disclosed herein, it is possible to provide a receiver that is suitable for a wide range of applications (e. g. , communications, sonar, radar, etc. ). Information is presented which outlines the fundamental receiver architecture that is appropriate for a wide range of commercial services (e. g. , AMPS, NAMPS, Digital Cellular, GSM, PCS, ISM, CT1, CT2, etc. ) Furthermore, tile versatility of this architecture makes it suited for uses ranging from simple AM/FM receivers to complex high-order modulation TDMA/CDMA receivers.
