Abstract:

The present invention provides a method for preventing or reducing haze development in a beverage. Silane-treated silica filter media are synthesized. By contacting the beverage with the silane-treated silica filter, one or more haze-forming components bind to the silane-treated silica filter media and are removed by filtration. In addition, particulates in the beverage are removed by filtration. Beverages that tend to develop haze on standing and/or chilling such as alcoholic, fruit, and vegetable beverages, are suitable for the present invention. This haze in a beverage is mainly caused by polyphenols and proteins. The present invention provides a method that can reduce the levels of both polyphenols and proteins. The silica filter media useful for the present method include rice hull ash, oat hull ash, or diatomaceous earth.

Abstract:

A service provider enters into a contractual relationship with a law enforcement agency to be their exclusive agent for auctioning seized property over the Internet. The service provider establishes a secure area for receiving, processing, and handling the seized property from the law enforcement agency. Seized items are received in the secure area, photographed, inventoried, and entered into the service provider inventory database. Appraisers evaluate each seized item, set a price for each seized item, prepare each seized item for posting, and post each seized item for auction on an Internet auction web site. The seized items are then auctioned off on the Internet web site. The winning bids are processed and payment collected. Sold items are then staged for shipping, removed from the inventory database, and then shipped to each winning bidder.

Abstract:

The invention provides a method of reducing the severity and reversing the neurological effects of a demyelinating disease in a subject by administering to a subject having a demyelinating disease an effective amount of a neutralizing agent specific for interferon inducible protein of 10 kDa (IP-10). The methods of the invention promote remyelination of demyelinated nerve fibers and impede further demyyelination of nerve fibers in a subject affected with a demyelinating disease by administering to a subject having a demyelinating disease.

Abstract:

The invention provides a method of reducing ocular inflammation in an individual susceptible to ocular inflammation. The method involves administering to the individual an effective amount of a neutralizing agent specific for CXCL10. Abstract:

A computer architecture which provides for the dynamic configuration of peripheral interrupts. A global router is implemented for mapping interrupts received over a multiple-line shared interrupt bus to correspond to system standard IRQ interrupt signals for a programable interrupt controller (PIC). The global router may configure interrupts to be both level sensitive and edge-triggered interrupts as well as being sharable among multiple devices. The global router further provides its interrupts to a shared interrupt bus which may receive other system interrupts for propagation to the computer system's PIC.
