Abstract:

There is disclosed a clear view cannula for use in surgical procedures having a tubular body, a cylindrical sleeve mounted about and slidably secured to the tubular body, and a plurality of shield members secured to the cylindrical sleeve. The cylindrical sleeve is slidably movable relative to the tubular body causing the shield members to expand and deploy such that the shield members retain torn and fragmented soft tissue within an anatomical cavity. Means are provided on the tubular body to co-act with means on the cylindrical sleeve to lock the expanded and deployed shield members and secure the tubular body within an anatomical body.

Abstract:

An I/O module configured to operate in a memory module socket and method for extending a memory interface are generally described herein. The I/O module may include a serial-presence detection (SPD) device to indicate that the I/O module is an I/O device and to indicate one or more functions associated with the I/O module. The I/O module may also include a serial data controller to communicate serial data in accordance with a predetermined communication technique with a configurable switch of a host system over preselected system management (SM) bus address lines and unused system clock signal lines of the memory module socket. Abstract:

An aspiration apparatus is described that includes a guide and a set of needles. Guide preferably has an approximately conical shape with a decreasing diameter in the distal direction. A plurality of lumens extend between a distal end portion and a proximal end portion of guide. Lumens have distal openings in distal end portion and proximal openings in proximal end portion. Lumens are acute and oblique to the longitudinal axis and diverge from each other and the central longitudinal axis as they extend distally from distal openings. Needles have a tubular wall and are slidingly positionable in lumens. Needles include a longitudinal section of tubular wall that has a plurality of apertures that decrease in size in the proximal direction. Apertures define an approximately conically shaped area of harvest. Aspiration apparatus can connect to an external source of reduced pressure through guide or directly to each needle.

A tamping apparatus is described that includes a cannula that has a tubular wall that includes a distal end portion that defines a tamping face. The cannula defines a longitudinally aligned aperture or lumen that provides access for an insert and the injection of treatment materials such as a bone graft. Abstract:

A system and a method for the automatic tuning of wireless peripheral devices, such as wireless keyboards, mice and digital cameras by providing a host transceiver in connection with a host via a bus, the host transceiver having a plurality of antennas configured to receive and send data between a host and a peripheral device, and a host-resident software program which causes the host to select the antenna having a higher signal quality as the most productive antenna to transfer data between the host and the peripheral device. All the complexity of the antenna selection operation is achieved by a host-resident software program, which periodically measures the signal quality of each antenna, compares the signal qualities and selects the higher signal quality antenna to transfer data between the host and the peripheral device. Signal quality is assessed based on the signal level, signal-to-noise ratio or other signal quality indicators for the signal provided by the antenna. The periodic measurements of signal quality, which are performed by the host-resident software program, are carried out in a manner to minimize any potential discontinuities in the reception of signals transferred between the host and the peripheral device.
