Abstract:

Conventional Internet access service and new computer programs are added to a conventional telephone central office. This system is able to alert a subscriber whose telephone line is connected to the Internet of a waiting call via the Internet access connection. Specifically, in response to a call that is waiting for a subscriber, the system establishes a new communication with the subscriber using the Internet access connection and new programs in the subscriber's data terminal. The system then notifies the subscriber of the waiting call via the Internet access connection. The system may then forward the telephone call to the subscriber via the Internet access connection responsive to a subscriber's request to do so without terminating the subscriber's Internet connection, or the subscriber may choose to answer the call in a conventional manner, or may select another option in response to the call notification.

In an industrial equipment network, each piece of equipment is provided a dedicated controller for providing control and identification information, and for being programmed to provide the interconnection and interaction of its associated piece of equipment with other equipment connected to the network, thereby permitting a SCADA system, via broadcasting from the controllers or polling the controllers, to self-configure itself to show a diagram of the entire equipment network and periodically update the diagram relative to changes thereto, and the status of the equipment on the network.

Systems and methods for redundant data communication are presented. In some embodiments, a redundant wireless networking system includes at least two wireless access points directly associated with a wired network and configured to provide wireless network access over one or more common areas, and one or more transceivers whose locations are restricted within the common area(s). Abstract:

The systems and methods of the present invention provide Ethernet devices having various embodiments for embedding in a network device. The Ethernet device is used to configure and operate the network device in a networked environment. The Ethernet device, depending on the embodiment includes at least one of the following items: 1) DHCP server, 2) DHCP client, 3) DNS server, and 4) detection of upstream or downstream connection. Abstract:

A Call Message Delivery System (CDS) in response to a request from a caller to deliver an international voice call message, uses the country code digits of the called station number to select the language to be used in the system announcement which precedes the delivery of the caller's message to the called station. Another feature enables the caller to select a system announcement to be delivered with the call message. An additional feature enables the caller to record his or her own announcement as the system announcement.
