Abstract:

A substrate useful for the formation of, inter alia, a flow field plate for a proton exchange membrane fuel cell, the substrate formed of at least one resin-impregnated sheet of compressed particles of exfoliated graphite comprising two major surfaces, the substrate having an active area with flow field channels thereon, the sheet of compressed particles of exfoliated graphite having a local web thickness in at least about 50% of its active area that is no more than about 55% greater than the minimum web thickness of the active area of the substrate.

Abstract:

An improved method enables preparation of articles for a variety of applications, including embossing or otherwise shaping to form a variety of articles. A plurality of thin, preferably resin-impregnated, flexible graphite sheets and are arranged to form zones in a composite material having a graded density or other characteristic. Variation of properties between zones in the stock material formed is useful for achieving a desired set of properties in the formation of articles such as those useful in electrochemical fuel cells and double-layer capacitors.

Abstract:

Systems and methods are provided for performing a database query. After receiving an identification of data item components and associations between the data item components, wherein the data item components include a measure and a category, a query generation system creates and executes a database query that comprises one or more Uqueries, wherein each Uquery comprises a Mx segment subquery and a U0 segment subquery. The Mx segment subquery is associated with a table that contains the measure, a table that contains columns for a calculated measure, or a correlated table, and the U0 segment subquery is associated with a table that contains the category, a table that contains columns for a calculated category, a dependent measure table, or a dependent filter table. The query generation system can generate a virtual results table by aggregating Uquery results from one Uquery with Uquery results from another Uquery.

Abstract:

A release lined pressure sensitive adhesive flexible graphite sheet article is provided having low thermal resistance properties comparable to the flexible graphite material itself when compared to prior art PSA sheet products and wherein the release liner is easily removed with the sheet is to be used without any significant delamination of the flexible graphite. The flexible graphite sheet comprises a flexible graphite substrate, an adhesive primer coating thereon, a pressure sensitive adhesive coating on the adhesive primer coating and a release liner applied to the pressure sensitive adhesive coating. Double sided pressure sensitive adhesive flexible graphite sheets can also be made using the method of the invention. It has been found that the use of an adhesive primer coating on the flexible graphite substrate applied from an emulsion as a coating and dried instead of the prior art adhesive containing polymer layer applied as a solid film, such as Mylar film, provide the above desired thermal resistance properties and also enable the use of less pressure sensitive adhesive on the sheet thereby maintaining the low thermal resistance properties of the flexible graphite. Partial coverage of the pressure sensitive adhesive on the sheet article surface for minimizing the thermal resistance of the sheet is also provided.
