Abstract:
Disclosed are isolated IKKγΔ; isolated nucleic acid molecules encoding IKKγΔ; expression vectors and cells which contain such nucleic acid molecules; oligonucleotides which are complementary to at least a portion of nucleic acid molecules encoding IKKγΔ but which are not complementary to any portion of nucleic acid molecules encoding wild type IKKγ; antibodies which are specific for IKKγΔ; DNA and RNA oligomers, optionally in labeled or enzymatically active form, which are capable of selectively hybridizing to nucleic acid molecules encoding IKKγΔ; and DNA and RNA oligomers, optionally in labeled or enzymatically active form, which are capable of selectively hybridizing to nucleic acid molecules encoding IKKγΔ but which do not hybridize with nucleic acid molecules encoding wild type IKKγ. Methods for using these materials to inhibit formation of IKKγΔ-containing IKK, to inhibit NF-κB activation, and to treat or prevent inflammation are also disclosed.

Abstract:
In accordance with some aspects of the present disclosure, a method is disclosed that can include receiving, by a security delegate module, a set of user authentication credentials by an application running a first instance in a network for a user; determining, by the security delegate module, a type of the application; and selecting, by the security delegate module, a security service based on the set of user authentication credentials and the type of application.

Abstract:
Synthetic milittin and related peptides derived from the sequence of human phospholipase A-activating protein (PLAP), free from the contaminating phospholipase A(PLA) and/or present when the peptides are purified from natural sources, show inhibitory activity against PLA. Inhibition of this enzyme, responsible for the hydrolysis of arachiodonate, an important precursor of eicosanoids, should lead to a decrease in the inflammatory response. In addition to their use as anti-inflammatory therapeutics, compositions containing the synthetic peptides may also be useful therapeutic tools for diagnosing inflammatory diseases (e.g., Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, rheumatoid arthritis).
Systems And Methods For Generating Modular Security Delegates For Applications

International Classification:
G06F 7/04
US Classification:

Abstract:
Embodiments of the present teachings relate to systems and methods for generating modular security delegates for applications. According to embodiments, in a multiple network environment, multiple machines (or clients) can be configured. Each machine can include a plurality of application instances and an authentication delegate. In addition, each network environment can include a communication interface to security services. The applications can include logic that indicates what security delegate to use for a given set of user authentication credentials. The logic can be configured to determine the appropriate authentication delegate using various methods. The authentication delegates can receive a set of user authentication credentials from application instances and determine whether the set of user authentication credentials are valid. Each authentication delegate corresponds to one and only one type of authentication mechanism.

Abstract:
Embodiments of the present teachings relate to systems and methods for generating modular security delegates for application instances, including, for example, applications usable on physical machines, virtualized environments, in the cloud, etc. According to embodiments, in a multiple network environment, multiple machines (or clients) can be configured, each having a defined security level. Each machine can include a plurality of application instances and corresponding security delegates for various defined security levels. For example, the defined security levels can be based on various authentication mechanisms, including, Kerberos, NT Lan Manager (NTLM) authentication protocol, secure sockets layer/transport security layer (SSL/TSL), token authentication, virtual private network (VPN), remote access security (RAS), digest authentication, etc.
DNA aptamers are high affinity ligands selected by genetic enrichment techniques to bind to specific protein targets. Because these represent chemically stable and reproducible molecules, they have application as affinity reagents and/or therapeutic drugs to affect the target protein's actions. NF-kB is an important mediator of the innate immune response and mediator of tissue inflammation. Although RNA and double stranded DNA aptamers have been identified to bind to the NF-kB family of proteins, the present invention represents the first identification of single stranded DNA aptamers that recognize NFkB RelA. The aptamers disclosed herein bind to several distinct regions of RelA and may be useful to antagonize the DNA binding of RelA as an inhibitor of cellular inflammation, visualize the location or amount of RelA in tissues from pathological conditions, or to quantitatively measure the activated state of RelA by affinity binding.
