Abstract:

A method of estimating bias errors for an air vehicle in flight under high spin conditions is provided. The method comprises collecting a first set of data samples at a first time and collecting a second set of data samples at a second time. The first time and the second time occur after deployment of the air vehicle and before canard shock. The first and second sets of data samples comprise roll rate data from at least a first gyroscope and acceleration data from at least a first accelerometer. At least a first estimated accelerometer bias from the first and second sets of data samples is calculated.

A process for treating orthopedic injuries including the steps of presenting a set of treatment protocols; approving a treatment protocol from among the presented set of treatment protocols; capturing information identifying the approved treatment protocol from among the set of presented protocols; and generating information from the captured information into a form compatible with a handheld computer adapted for connection to an orthopedic sensor system. The generated information includes parameters of the identified approved treatment protocol. The process may also include the steps of basing the presented set of treatment protocols upon a database of historic patients, orthopedic injuries, treatment protocols and outcomes, and retaining information about the current patient, the patients injury, treatment protocol and outcome. A system for treating orthopedic injuries with a historic database on a central computer and a handheld computer attached to a sensor system. The handheld computer has formatted treatment protocol parameters originating in the historic database and mediates treatmetn of the orthopedic injury.

Several different smart stent structures are described for placement in vessel of a mammal. The stents can be advantageously used to perform measurements of the conditions in the vessel and transmit the measurements wireless out from the patient. In some embodiments, the stent performs therapy within the vessel and may be controlled with a microprocessor, which may or may not communicate wirelessly. Some implantable devices comprise a drug delivery system based, for example, on either a microelectromechanical structure or a cover that opens upon application of an electrical current. Smart devices can be used, for example, the detect deposits in a vessel, aneurysms in the vessel or other modifications of flow in the vessel.

Abstract:

A system for gyroscope dynamic motor amplitude compensation during startup comprises various program modules, including an a-priori motor amplitude module configured to generate an a-priori motor amplitude signal based on a model of gyroscope motor amplitude growth during startup; a steady state scale factor module configured to generate a steady state scale factor signal; and a dynamic motor amplitude compensation module configured to receive the a-priori motor amplitude signal, and the steady state scale factor signal. During startup, rate motion is sensed by the gyroscope and a sensed rate signal is output by the gyroscope. The dynamic motor amplitude compensation module receives a measured motor amplitude signal from the gyroscope, the a-priori motor amplitude signal, or a combination thereof, and outputs a time varying scale factor that is applied to the sensed rate signal to produce an accurate sensed rate from the gyroscope during the startup phase.
