Abstract:

An image-forming machine having a detack charging system with an input source to store receiver media. The receiver media includes at least one sheet having a receiver weight. The image-forming machine further includes a marking engine having a central processing unit (CPU) and a detack charger. The marking engine is configured to receive media form the input source. The CPU includes a memory and is configured to receive and store a receiver weight limit from an interface device. The CPU is also configured to enable the detack charger when the weight of a receiver sheet is less than or equal to the receiver weight limit.

Abstract:

An electrographic printing machine () including multiple print counters () is disclosed. The printing machine () is capable of printing images on various receiver sheet types, including transparencies, label stock, and of course paper of various composition, finish, size, and color. A main print counter () keeps a count of each sheet printed by the printing machine (), regardless of receiver sheet type. Receiver sheet type counters () are each associated with a receiver sheet type, and maintain counts of sheets printed by receiver sheet type. The contents of type counters can be used in the calculation of printing charges, maintenance intervals, and the like, considering that machine wear, contamination, and use of consumables varies for various receiver sheet types.

Abstract:

An electrostatic scavenger roller within the development apparatus of an electrostatographic copier or printer for recovering unwanted charged carrier particles (DPU) from the image-bearing surface of such copier or printer after development. The scavenger roller, which is mounted rotatably adjacent the image-bearing surface and within reach of first magnetic fields on the alternating pole magnets of a rotatable development roller, includes a magnetic drive disk at each end thereof. Each of the magnetic drive disks consists of a series of alternating pole magnets fixedly disposed inside the scavenger roller for rotation therewith, and each generates a second magnetic field which overlaps the first magnetic fields of the development roller. As such, rotation of the development roller magnetically induces rotation of the magnetic disks and, hence, rotation of the scavenger roller, thereby bringing the electrostatically recovered carrier particles (DPU) thereon, around and into the first magnetic fields for magnetic recapture by the magnetic development roller.
