Abstract:

Structures can be formed downhole by accumulating already existing materials and/or materials introduced into a well to perform a specified function. The formed structures may be used to obstruct fluid flow of production or injection fluids, carry mechanical loads, control electrical or magnetic properties of components, mechanically actuate a component, as well as others. The materials may be induced to form the specified structure, such as by application of a potential downhole. For example, electrical, magnetic, sonic, biological potentials, or a combination thereof may be established downhole to form specified structures in specified locations to perform specified functions.

Abstract:

An anchor assembly can anchor a downhole power unit in a wellbore. The anchor assembly can couple to a downhole power unit and can include a coupling member supported by a supporting member in a body. The supporting member can move vertically relative to the body in response to a force and the coupling member can move radially between an expanded position and a retracted position in response to movement by the supporting member. The coupling member in the expanded position can anchor the anchor assembly.

Abstract:

Disclosed are systems and methods of minimizing shock impacts assumed by electronics arranged within downhole tools. One disclosed tool string includes at least one downhole tool having an electronics package associated therewith, and an air shock tool having a housing operatively coupled to the at least one downhole tool and having a piston movably arranged within a piston chamber defined in the housing, wherein the electronics package is operatively engaged with the piston such that axial movement of the electronics package correspondingly moves the piston, and wherein a shock impact propagates through the tool string in an uphole direction and the piston is configured to reduce an effect of the shock impact on the electronics package.
