Abstract:

An integrated MAGLEV (Magnetic Levitated Vehicle) system consists of permanent or preferably superconducting vehicle-mounted magnets which interact with both active and induced track-based currents. The magnets on the vehicle which are used for propulsion serve the dual purpose of realizing both levitation and lateral stabilization (guidance). The contribution offered by this invention is that it is able to provide propulsion, levitation, and guidance using a single type of track-based coil interacting with a singular type of magnetic field which is affixed to the vehicle. The realization of multiple functions with a single coil reduces the cost and enhances the efficiency of this MAGLEV system. In the main embodiment of this invention, propulsion currents are injected into brushes sliding along brush contact surfaces on the rail, series winding further eliminates the intermediate brushes leaving only the leading set of brushes and the trailing set. Motion induced currents in the coils realize both the necessary levitation and guidance forces for the vehicle.

Abstract:

A self-configuring data acquisition system and method for conducting diagnostic testing of process equipment devices. The data acquisition system includes a data acquisition processing unit for controlling diagnostic testing of an equipment device, the equipment device including a digital information unit that stores information uniquely identifying the equipment device. A signal conditioning unit is coupled to the data acquisition unit by a first data transmission means, the signal conditioning unit including a digital information unit that stores information uniquely identifying the signal conditioning unit. A sensor is coupled with the equipment device under test, wherein the sensor is further coupled to the signal conditioning unit by a second data transmission means, and wherein the sensor includes a digital information unit that stores information uniquely identifying the sensor. Each digital information unit transmits its stored identifying information to the data acquisition processing unit. A component automatically configures the signal conditioning unit, based on the sensor and equipment device identifying information, to excite the equipment device under test and receive a plurality of test data input signals from the equipment device resulting from the excitation.

Abstract:

A Patient Protocol Card ("PPC") is provided on which a physician may store the information required for a prescribed treatment, for example, the patient's name, prescribed intensity of the treatment, duration of different phases of the treatment, and number of treatments. PPC may then be used to initiate and control the work of the device administering the prescribed treatment. To initiate the procedure and to convey required information to a control unit, the card is inserted into a card receptacle of the control unit, which preferably incorporates a card reading mechanism. When the treatment information is conveyed, the control unit administers the procedure in accordance with the physician's prescription. In the preferred embodiment, there are three versions of the PPC: a clinician card, a patient card, and a physician card. The clinician card initializes the control unit to begin treatment.

Hydrokinetic fluid turbines utilize a flowing body of liquid to translate the kinetic energy of the fluid into electric power or other useful energy. The available kinetic energy is proportional to the squared fluid velocity in an open channel with a fixed cross-sectional area. Abstract:

A cycloidal magnetic gear system for a turbine system is disclosed. The system includes a first stator magnet ring, a second stator magnet ring positioned opposite the first stator magnet ring, and a rotor positioned between the first and second stator rings of magnets. The rotor may include a first side positioned adjacent the first stator magnet ring, and a second side positioned adjacent the second stator magnet ring. The system may include a first rotor magnet ring affixed to the first side of the rotor, adjacent the first stator magnet ring. Additionally, the system may include a second rotor magnet ring affixed to the second side of the rotor, adjacent the second stator magnet ring. The rotor may be configured to rotate eccentrically about a center-axis of the first and/or second stator magnet ring.
