An apparatus is disclosed for aiding in the speed and simplicity of the adjustment of the clicker-style cam bolts employed by TRA-type snowmobile drive clutches, manufactured by Bombardier Recreational Products. The apparatus comprises a barrel type nut with a collared head and a compression wire spring which fits telescopically over said nut and against said collared head, and a locking set screw to secure the apparatus against rotational movement or removal. This assembly replaces the conventional hexagonal lock nut presently used on TRA-type drive clutches. This apparatus enables the user to change the linear position of the cam bolt in the drive clutch housing to enable the hexagonal head of the clicker-style bolt to clear its respective hexagonally indexed pocket, which is molded into the drive clutch housing, and to be turned to any one of six different degrees of rotation, thereby changing the shift-out RPM setting of the drive clutch quickly and with greater ease than conventional methods.
Bi-Directional Ice-Particle Spray Generating Device For Snow Vehicles
A bi-directional ice-particle spray generating device for use on snow vehicles is disclosed which is primarily constructed of multi-strand wire rope. The use of wire rope as a spring member allows for 360 degree flexibility to enable the design to be compatible with reverse-gear-equipped snow vehicles. A replaceable wear point or points is integral in the design for added durability.

Abstract:
The present invention comprises a braking or steering mechanism that is located near the steering pivot point of a runner of a ski vehicle. In a conventional snowmobile, for example, the steering pivot point is near the middle of the longitudinal axis of the runner, and, hence, the preferred braking and steering mechanism extends from near, but not at the rear end of, the runner, to contact the snow or ground to slow or stop the snowmobile movement relative to the snow or ground. The preferred braking or steering mechanism comprises a brake that is a retractable, protruding member that extends down from the runner bottom surface near the steering pivot point a sufficient distance to frictionally engage the snow/ground significantly more than does the bottom of the runner. The protruding member may take the forms of a prong or spike, a blade or plate, or other single, plural, smooth or toothed member(s) that can make frictional contact with the snow/ground. For example, the protruding member may be a moveable portion of the keel of the ski runner. Preferably, the brake comprises one or more elongated members that extend through and from the bottom of the runner to -6 inches into the snow/ground. Optionally, there may be included a control system for partial or incremental application of the brake, for example, for moving the brake varying depths into the snow/ground, or moving the brake to varying angles and positions relative to the snow/ground for varying amounts of frictional engagement or digging action. Also, there may be included a control system for differential application of the brake on one side of the ski vehicle relative to the other side. This way, assistance in steering the vehicle may also be obtained.

Abstract:
An emergency ski brake system located above and to the side and acting in the close vicinity of the pivot point of the runner of a ski vehicle. The preferred embodiment has one or more protruding braking members on each ski that when released by a latching mechanism, rotate forward helically around the outside edge of the runner to substantially engage the terrain more so than does the bottom surface of the runner. The protruding member may take the form of a blade or spike, prong or other single, plural, smooth or toothed members that extend around and under the ski to stab 1-6 inches into the terrain provided that the mechanism and attached protruding member is located alongside and perpendicular to the pivot point of the runner and actuates in a forward, helical rotation in relation to the direction of the runner. There may also be included a safety tether or other operator absence detecting mechanism located on the ski vehicle which actuates the emergency ski brake system in case of accidental operator dismount.
Closed Pneumatic Synchronization System For Independent Suspensions
A closed pneumatic synchronization system is described, wherein two actuators are connected to each other by conduits transferring air or other gas in such a way that when one actuator is forced up or down, the changes in air pressure cause the other actuator to move in the same direction. The ability of gases to expand and contract cushions the shocks to the chassis caused by changes in the terrain or direction of travel, and the communication between the actuators keeps the chassis parallel to the terrain. No sensors are needed.
Disclosed is a modified CVT flyweight that allows for a 1 to 15 degree bidirectional change of pitch-angle of the cam section of a flyweight to variably affect the load placed on a connected drive-unit to match changes in elevation or terrain. Enabling the cam pitch-angle adjustment is a secondary pivotal axis (separate from the primary centrifugal axis) that is incrementally rotated and held in position by a manually rotated threaded fastener acting as a cantilever upon one side of the pivot. There may be removable weights in the form of threaded screws, pins or rivets that can be added or subtracted from the flyweight in addition to changes in the cam pitch-angle to affect the overall mass of the flyweight and also adjust the maximum RPM's of the engine.
