Abstract:

The present disclosure relates to a system and method for configuring a printing device. In one arrangement, the system and method pertain to determining that the printing device is accessible, and downloading a configuration applet to the printing device, the configuration applet being configured to execute on a virtual machine of the printing device and automatically configure the printing device for use. In addition, the present disclosure relates to a printing device. In one arrangement, the printing device comprises a processing device, and memory including a virtual machine and a configuration applet that is executed by the virtual machine, the configuration applet including logic configured to facilitate downloading of a printing device driver.

Abstract:

A printing method comprises placing a mobile computing device within a select proximity of a printer and sending from the mobile computing device to the printer a security key and printing instructions to enable the printer to access and print the document. A printing system comprises a printer, a mobile computing device for holding a security key and instructions for printing the document and having a communication module for activating the printer to print the document when the mobile computing device is within a select proximity of the printer.

Abstract:

A method of determining style characteristics from scanned data includes identifying characters within the scanned data. The characters are then compared to a style library containing templates of each style characteristic to determine the style characteristics for each character. The scanned data is saved as processed data containing style characteristics of the scanned data. An information sheet containing the style characteristics of the scanned data can be printed or the style characteristics can be set as formatted text, along with the processed data, to be readable by a word processing program.
