Abstract:
Method and devices for electrosurgery by means of oxy-hydro combustion. Deleterious effects to tissue are minimized by means of control of acid-base shift reactions, which reactions can further be employed to control oxy-hydro combustion reactions. In one embodiment, radiofrequency energy in electrical connection with electrodes is employed to induce electrolysis in an aqueous salt environment, thereby producing oxygen and hydrogen, with the same energy source employed to initiate a combustion reaction.
Method For Achieving Tissue Changes In Bone Or Bone-Derived Tissue
A method of achieving tissue changes in bone or bone-derived organic tissue, in which method bone or bone-derived organic tissue is provided, an interfacing agent is applied to the bone or bone-derived organic tissue, and electromagnetic energy is applied to the interfacing agent. The interfacing agent can include collagen, preferably bone-derived collagen, and a therapeutic agent. In a related embodiment, a method of treating bone tissue is provided wherein a bioactive interfacing agent is placed between the bone segments of the bone tissue to be treated.
Methods And Compositions For Fusing Bone During Endoscopy Procedures
A method of and compositions for fusing or welding bones in vivo and in a fluid medium wherein an implant bone is provided, the implant bone and/or a receiving bone is treated to expose organic component and to de-fat, an interfacing agent is added between receiving bone segments to be fused or welded, and the implant and receiving bone are fused or welded in vivo, in a fluid medium, utilizing electromagnetic energy. The interfacing agent may include collagen, a hydrophilic polymer and a therapeutic agent.

Abstract:
Devices and methods for electrolytic electrosurgery wherein a detector is located proximal to an active electrode on an electrosurgical probe, optionally disposed between the active electrode and a return electrode, the detector detecting at least on parameter relating to electrolysis. The detected parameter can include pH concentration, temperature, conductivity, impedance, ion, concentration, electrolytic gas consumption, electrolytic gas production, pressure or sound. The detected parameter can be employed in control systems to control systems to control activation or operation of the electrosurgical probe.
