A coating material is described herein that includes at least one inorganic compound, and at least one densifying agent, wherein the densifying agent increases the density of the coating material as compared to the density of the at least one inorganic compound. A method of producing a coating material is described herein that includes: providing at least one inorganic compound, providing at least one densifying agent, combining the at least one inorganic compound with the at least one densifying agent to form the coating material, wherein the densifying agent increases the density of the coating material as compared to the density of the at least one inorganic compound.

Abstract:

An access device places a medical article within a body space of a patient. The device has a needle that includes an elongated body, a side fenestration on the elongated body, and a needle hub. The device further includes a dilator disposed on and slideable along the elongated body of the needle and a medical article. The medical article is disposed on and slideable along the dilator. The dilator and the needle form one or more spaces in communication with the side fenestration. At least portions of the dilator and the medical article are configured so as to allow visual determination of the presence of a bodily fluid within the space. The outer surface of the needle and the inner surface of the dilator can include a surfactant. Further, at least one of the needle and dilator can further comprise a vent in communication with the space that allows for the escape of air from the space and inhibits the escape of the bodily fluid from the space.

Abstract:

Systems, apparatuses, and methods for performing temperature-aware task scheduling and proactive power management. A SoC includes a plurality of processing units and a task queue storing pending tasks. The SoC calculates a thermal metric for each pending task to predict an amount of heat the pending task will generate. The SoC also determines a thermal gradient for each processing unit to predict a rate at which the processing unit's temperature will change when executing a task. The SoC also monitors a thermal margin of how far each processing unit is from reaching its thermal limit. The SoC minimizes non-uniform heat generation on the SoC by scheduling pending tasks from the task queue to the processing units based on the thermal metrics for the pending tasks, the thermal gradients of each processing unit, and the thermal margin available on each processing unit.

Abstract:

Systems, apparatuses, and methods for performing real-time tracking of performance targets using dynamic compilation. A performance target is specified in a service level agreement. A dynamic compiler analyzes a software application executing in real-time and determine which high-level application metrics to track. The dynamic compiler then inserts instructions into the code to increment counters associated with the metrics. A power optimization unit then utilizes the counters to determine if the system is currently meeting the performance target. If the system is exceeding the performance target, then the power optimization unit reduces the power consumption of the system while still meeting the performance target.

Abstract:

A photodiode includes a cap layer defining an inboard side and an outboard side. A plurality of pixels are formed in the cap layer extending from the inboard side to the outboard side. At least a portion of the cap layer is defined in between the pixels. A metal barrier is in between the pixels and is operatively connected to the inboard side of the cap layer in between the pixels to reflect light rays into the cap layer reducing the leakage of photons between the pixels.

A photodiode has an absorption layer and a cap layer operatively connected to the absorption layer.
