Abstract:

The present invention relates to multi-metallic catalyst compositions for improved coke resistance in a hydrocarbon feed pre-reformer unit that comprises nickel and an enhancing component selected from at least one member of the group consisting of ruthenium, palladium, platinum, rhodium, cobalt, gold and silver on a support. The present invention further relates to a catalyst system for improved coke and sulfur resistance in a hydrocarbon feed pre-reformer unit that comprises at least one multi-metallic catalyst composition comprising nickel and an enhancing component selected from at least one member of the group consisting of ruthenium, palladium, platinum, rhodium, cobalt, gold and silver on a support used in conjunction with at least one sulfur capturing component selected from the group comprising copper oxide and zinc oxide. Finally the present invention relates to the use of this catalyst system in a process for pre-reforming a hydrocarbon feed stream.

Abstract:

An improved reactor process is provided. This process includes providing at least one reactor tube, the reactor tube comprising an exterior and an interior, the interior comprising an inside surface, providing a heat source to the exterior of the at least one reactor tube, providing a reactant gas stream to the interior of the at least one reactor tube, placing at least one heat transfer structure in thermal contact with the inside surface of the at least one reactor tube, and transferring heat from the heat source to at least a portion of the reactant gas stream at least partially through the at least one heat transfer structure, thereby producing a product gas stream. There may be a catalyst on the interior of the at least one reactor tube. The reactant gas stream may comprise methane and steam.

A stream of sub ambient oxygen from an ion transport membrane is injected into an ambient pressure or super ambient pressure oxygen-consuming process through an annular space in between concentrically disposed inner and outer tubes where a high velocity gas is injected into the process from the inner tube.
