A method of making an energy conversion device includes forming a plurality of pores within a substrate and forming a junction region within each of the plurality of pores. Each of the junction regions has a depletion region and each of the plurality of pores defines an opening size in the substrate and a spacing from adjacent pores so that the depletion regions of each of the pores is at least substantially in contact with the depletion region of the pores which are adjacent.
Method, System And Apparatus For Applying Hybrid Arq To The Control Of Transmit Diversity
A method, system and apparatus using hybrid automatic repeat-request (HARQ) to enhance a system throughput in a transmit diversity system. Embodiments of the present invention may include a method including receiving a quality-indication signal such as a HARQ from the base station, calculating a complex weighting based on the quality-indication signal, modifying a pre-transmission signal based on the complex weighting to produce a plurality of modified pre-transmission signals, each modified pre-transmission signal from the plurality modified pre-transmission signals being uniquely associated with an antenna element from a plurality antenna elements of a mobile device, and sending the plurality of modified pre-transmission signals from the plurality of antenna elements to produce an effective combined transmitted signal, the complex weighting being associated with a total power of the transmitted signal and at least one from a phase rotation and a power ratio associated with each antenna element from the plurality of antenna elements.

Abstract:
The described invention relates to a method for determining corrosion in wet gas pipelines comprising: a) using a portion of the liquid phase from a wet gas pipeline; b) placing said portion in a high pressure, high temperature autoclave to prepare a saturated vapor phase; c) transferring the saturated vapor to a corrosion test unit, said unit having a specimen holder section having external, temperature adjustable means, and specimens being arranged in one or more positions within the specimen holder; d) chilling said specimen holder section so as to cause condensation onto said corrosion testing specimens; and, e) calculating a value selected from the group consisting of corrosions rate, pitting of the specimen, weight loss of the specimen, and any combination thereof. The invention process can be practiced in a separate laboratory apparatus designed to accomplish the above method, or in a similar online apparatus set up in a semi-batch mode or continuous mode.

A method for fabricating a micro-organ device comprises providing a microscale support having one or more microfluidic channels and one or more micro-chambers for housing a micro-organ and printing a micro-organ on the microscale support using a cell suspension in a syringe controlled by a computer-aided tissue engineering system, wherein the cell suspension comprises cells suspended in a solution containing a material that functions as a three-dimensional scaffold. The printing is performed with the computer-aided tissue engineering system according to a particular pattern. The micro-organ device comprises at least one micro-chamber each housing a micro-organ; and at least one microfluidic channel connected to the micro-chamber, wherein the micro-organ comprises cells arranged in a configuration that includes microscale spacing between portions of the cells to facilitate diffusion exchange between the cells and a medium supplied from the at least one microfluidic channel.

Abstract:
A method for optimizing a computer system, the method comprising the steps of receiving at least one key corresponding to at least one attribute of at least one configurable computer system; accessing an electronic key database stored in a memory that includes computer configuration information; comparing the received keys with entries in the key database; generating recommendations where the recommendations include commands selected from the group consisting of deleting, Disabling, suspending, changing process priority, and delaying the execution of the attribute corresponding to the key received from the configurable computer system; and transmitting the recommendations to the configurable computer system based upon the comparison of the received keys with entries in the key database.
Downhole Neutron Generators And Methods To Auto Tune Downhole Neutron Generators
Downhole neutron generators, downhole logging tools that utilize neutron generators, and methods to auto tune downhole neutron generators are disclosed. While a neutron generator is deployed in a borehole of a wellbore, the method includes determining whether an oscillation cycle of an ion beam current generated by the neutron generator is stable. After a determination that the oscillation cycle of the ion beam current is stable, the method includes determining proportional, integral, and derivative parameters of a proportional-integral-derivative controller that is operable to adjust an amount of power supplied to generate ions. The method further includes adjusting a replenish voltage of a replenish power supply of the neutron generator based on the proportional, integral, and derivative parameters.
