Abstract:

A method of providing a real time interactive environment, over the Internet, between an agent of an online retailer and a client, comprising, creating images of a product of the online retailer, the images including at least one of a panorama view image, a 3-D movie and a magnified image frame, providing a call center services for real time, bi-directional communication between the agent and the client, combining the product image with recorded voiceover, the voiceover further describing the product, providing means by which the agent can push onto the client computer an alternative product, wherein the agent and the client view the alternative product simultaneously, providing means for the retailer to receive client input, and providing a web server for hosting the created image of the product of interest and hosting the call center.

Abstract:

A system and method for publishing images such as 3DMovies and Virtual Tours to the Internet is disclosed. The system has a publishing server that is configured to upload image and associated files from a computer connected to the Internet. The publishing server determine whether any image files are missing before publication of the image to the Internet. The publishing server stores the image and associated files, and assigns a URL to them in order to be accessible over the Internet. Furthermore, the system provides a way for a user to modify and add images, and manage sub-users and image directories.

Steps in producing and publishing a panoramic image from component images are automated such that a user can simply click a single button to stitch and publish a panoramic image. The stitched panoramic image is automatically cropped, compression quality is automatically adjusted according to the quality of the stitched panoramic image, a thumbnail image of the stitched panoramic image is automatically generated, and wrapping of the stitched panoramic image is automatically detected—all without user intervention. The resulting panoramic image is completely viewable without further intervention by the authoring user.

Abstract:

A method for performing object occlusion is disclosed. The method includes capturing an image of a physical item, determining a location and an orientation of a first virtual item with an augmented reality registration function; generating an augmented reality image, wherein the augmented reality image comprises a rendering of the first virtual item in the image using a first rendering function to depict the location and orientation of the first virtual item in the image and a rendering of a second virtual item in the image with a second rendering function; displaying the augmented reality image, wherein occlusion of the first virtual item by the physical item is shown in the augmented reality image based on occlusion of the first virtual item by the second virtual item wherein the first virtual item depicts a next step in the step-by-step instructions for the assembly.
