  • Paul Revere and William Dawes arrived in Arlington a little later than they usually do on Patriots Day, but they were welcomed to town. This years 250th anniversary events marked onApril 19 the start of the Revolutionary War.Each year, Paul Revere leaves on horseback from the North End, Boston and William Dawes on horseback leaves from John Elliot Square, 10 Putnam St., Roxbury, warning the people while on their way to Lexington of the pending arrival of the British Regulars, as the English troops were called.On Monday, April 21, at Arlington Town Hall, the Menotomy Welcoming Committee greeted the National Lancers riders reenacting the rides of Paul Revere and William Dawes. While awaiting the riders, residents were able to join in family-friendly activities and enjoy light refreshments.
