A status indicator for a door lock which is capable of being activated by a tail piece of the door lock has a first linking member which is operatively attached to the tail piece so as to be rotated by the tail piece and a second linking member which attaches between the first linking member and the indicating member. The second linking member translates the rotational movement of the first linking member to translational movement so as to move the indicating member linearly. The indicating member is housed within a housing plate which is attached to the door by the door lock. The indicating member moves within the housing member in response to change of the lock from a locked to an unlocked status and indicates this change so as to indicate the status of the lock, whether it is locked or unlocked.
Apparatus And Process Related To Keying A Lock With A Control Key
For use in combination with a pin-tumbler lock cylinder of the type having a key plug nested within a control cylinder which in turn is nested within a main body cylinder and including a plurality of bores extending through the key plug, the control cylinder and the main body cylinder with a pin-tumbler located in each of the bores, a measuring device for determining the pin-tumbler size for preparing a control key includes a body having a cylinder mating face and a probe which extends from the cylinder mating face. The cylinder mating face is mated against the outside of the main body cylinder with the probe positioned within the bore. When the interface between the driver pin and the control pin is located at the shear line between the control cylinder and the main body cylinder, the length of the probe which is accepted within the bore is an indication of the cut necessary for preparing a control key for the lock.
A locking device for connecting a first structure to a second structure has a lock body receptacle attaching to one of the structures. The lock body receptacle has a hollow interior and includes an opening allowing the insertion of a padlock type lock body into the interior of the receptacle. The face of the receptacle which overlaps the top of the padlock type lock body includes a first and second openings which are positioned so as to align with the corresponding two openings in the top of the padlock type lock body. The opposite face of the receptacle includes an opening allowing for access to the keyway of the padlock type lock body. A shank support member is connected to the other structure. The shank support member includes at least one shank which is positioned in a location on the support member so as pass through one of the openings in the lock body receptacle and into the appropriate opening in the top of the padlock type lock body to lock the shank to the padlock type lock body.
