I take no credit, however; it was me, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, responsible for notifying and requesting world-wide help for the Katrina Victims. Anyone, might remember the White House Press Conference, including Homeland Security, the Joint Chief Of Staffs, FEMA and President Bush and staff...They were asked by the press, "where did all the help come from?" The answered with, "We don't know, some civilian source..." Well, that source began with me, William Jennings, at home on my VA purchased desktop. It might never be made public news in my lifetime, my son's, or my grandson's...Its all okay, everything is all okay.,..I would like a tour of New Orleans and meet the hundreds of thousands of families rescued to the ships that came to the gulf from around the world...And I would love to gorge on the food...You know, to help my meds.....I also want not to take credit for climbing the tallest mountains in Korea, and saving one soldier's life...He did not want to come down from that mountain...Everyone tried to persuade him otherwise. They left and I remained...I then persuaded him, in not so pleasant terms. We availed...I also take no credit for saving a female lieutenant's life near Fort Penyon, Colorado. While with the 82nd Field Hospital, Omaha, Nebraska, we were a mash unit during a tornado, when we all ran to a 2 l/2 ton truck for protection. The lieutenant wanted to get off the truck during the tornado and rescue a fellow service-member.l told her to keep her ass on the truck. Everyone looked at me in awe for being insubordinate to an officer...Well, I whistled loudly, (learned from gradeschool, McCook, NE. I continued to whistle loudly and the service-member was able to find us on the truck by only the sound of my whistle. Got an Army Achievement Medal for that one...I believe that I can speak for all veterans...We raise our hands and commit to our country. However; when we return home, our commitment does not end there. However, a lifelong commitment to our communities, our neighborhoods, to each other, our country and the entire world. This is, I believe a commitment of all veterans. If we were paid what the Veterans Administration and our government owes us, we would filter those monies back into our communities and the economy.
