Abstract:
A blended electrical/friction braking system includes an electric brake feedback monitor which monitors a first signal corresponding to an electric brake effort request of an electric motor of an electrically powered vehicle. The electric brake feedback monitor detects one or more electrical conditions of the electric motor during electric braking and selectively supplies/terminates the first signal to/from a brake controller as a function of the first signal and the one or more electrical conditions. In response to termination of the first signal thereat, the brake controller causes a friction brake of the vehicle to assume the entire braking effort of the vehicle.

Abstract:
The present invention provides a brush holder assembly for holding carbon brushes against the commutator of a DC motor. The brush holder assembly may include elongated brush receptacles that can accommodate longer carbon brushes, and a double fulcrum design that assists in holding the brushes against the commutator with constant force, or a nearly constant force. In a particular embodiment, the brush holder assembly may be mounted within the motor housing of an off-highway vehicle with a motorized wheel, a locomotive, or an oil rig. For these kinds of applications, the space between the motor housing and the commutator may be particularly narrow and confined, and the double fulcrum design makes it possible to employ brushes with greater lengths of useful carbon and to manually replace them with minimal down time.

Abstract:
An electrical connection system for connecting an electrical device mounted on an instrument panel to an electrical circuit located behind the panel including a male plug mounted on the back wall of an instrument panel receptacle and a female socket mounted inside the electrical device adjacent an access hole. The male plug has a nonconductive connector body and a plurality of metal terminals that are retained in terminal cavities by flexible arms that project into tubular contact portions at the forward ends of the terminals. The connector body of the male plug has a platform at the forward end where the terminal cavities have channel shaped portions that have open exterior sides for exposing the tubular contact portions of the metal terminals. The tubular contact portions each include a lock aperture that cooperates with an associated flexible lock arm for retaining the terminals in the terminal cavities. The female socket has a nonconductive connector body and a plurality of compliant metal terminals.
