Abstract:

A device and method for determining internal fluid pressure in a body cavity during irrigation procedures is presented. The invention relies on noninvasive measurements on a calibrated surgical apparatus to determine the dynamic internal fluid pressure. Once the dynamic internal fluid pressure is known, a control signal can be generated to indicate needed changes to pressure-regulating equipment, such as a pump.

Abstract:

A massively parallel computer arrangement and method for processing seismic data, comprising signal amplitude as received by a plurality of receivers each for a plurality of shots, to generate a profile of subterranean formations. Initially, the arrangement, iteratively for a plurality of subsets of the shot data referred to as "shot chunks," converts, the signal amplitude data into frequency component amplitude data identifying the amplitudes of the frequency components of the signal data. After that is done for all of the shot chunks, the arrangement iteratively processes the amplitude data for successive frequency chunks to generate a profile, during each iteration iteratively generating profile information for successive subterranean layers and processing the frequency component amplitude data to downward-migrate the receiver and shot data to facilitate generating profile information for the next layer.

Abstract:

In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, methods are provided for Kirchhoff-migrating seismic data using a parallel computer. The methods of the present invention preferably use a multiprocessor machine that is interconnected to form a hypercube. The presently preferred method is to build up one or more migrated output traces in each processor (node) designated as a "migration" processor, as input traces are passed from migration node to migration node along a nearest-neighbor chain. When an output trace is completed, it is sent by a migration node to storage via an appropriate I/O processor and the migration node beings building a new output trace. There is essentially no limit to the length of seismic line which can be so migrated. Alternatively, the input traces may be held in the migration nodes and the output traces passed from node to node along a nearest-neighbor chain, or the input and output traces may be passed in opposite directions along the chain. Further, the use of multiple migration chains allows for efficient operation over a wide range of number of available processors.
