Abstract:

An intravenous drug access system. In one embodiment of the invention, the drug access system includes an IV bag having an inlet port and an outlet port, whereby the inlet port is a female luer integral therewith. The integral female luer fitting may be fitted with a sealed end cap including a male luer insert with a closed end. An alternative embodiment of the present invention comprises a discrete pre-molded connector made with a spike at one end and a female luer fitting at the opposing end. The spike is used to penetrate a standard IV bag through a conventional inlet port.

Abstract:

An electrical generating system in which a hermetically sealed flotation sphere, preferably constructed of plastic, is anchored to a sea bed. The sphere carries a circumferential fender on the outside thereof in which is located a plurality of screws open to sea water which generate electricity from the action of ground swells. A wind turbine is mounted on top of the sphere for generating electricity from wind action and a solar generator is disposed directly beneath the wind turbine and on the upper surface of the sphere for generating energy from solar heat. An air compressor is disposed beneath the sphere for generating electricity from tidal action.

Abstract:

An inflation device is disclosed for inflation of a balloon of a balloon catheter. A housing defines a fluid-receiving reservoir in fluid communication with the balloon and an interior space for completely receiving a pressure gauge which accesses the fluid for measurement of the pressure within the system. The reservoir has a piston and threaded plunger extending from a proximal opening in the reservoir. The threaded plunger is selectively engaged by a biased rotatable arm on the housing. The piston and plunger are part of a syringe received within the reservoir, and the housing defines an aperture for visual readout of the level of liquid in the reservoir. The pressure gauge contains a Bourdon tube and further contains a gauge fluid in communication with the tube. The means for isolating the inflation fluid from the gauge is an expandable bladder disposed in the neck between the gauge and the inflation fluid so that the bladder expands upon increased fluid pressure within the closed system to create a pressure readout. The housing defines an aperture for visual readout of a timer in the form of an LCD display with a frontally-illuminated screen.
