The subject application is directed to a system and method for generating a graphical user input interface via an associated graphical user interface. Data representative of a user input interface from storage. Preferably, this data includes graphical representations of each character associated with a standard QWERTY keyboard, inclusive of modified characters. Abstract:

The subject application is directed to a system and method for the automated configuration for document input devices. A document processing device first receives a document, which is scanned to detect an indicia on one of the sheets of the document. The indicia, in the form of a barcode or watermark, are then decoded to generate job data representing a desired device configuration for processing the received document. The job data is then used to program a job processor and the document processing device outputs the document in accordance with the job data.

Abstract:

The subject application is directed to a system and method for simultaneously commencing output of disparately encoded electronic documents. Selection data representative of multiple electronic documents encoded in multiple disparate formats is first received. For example, the electronic documents are capable of being encoded in MICROSOFT OFFICE WORD, MICROSOFT OFFICE EXCEL, ADOBE ACROBAT formats, and the like. Each of the disparate formats is associated with a corresponding software module and then retrieved in accordance with received selection data. Next, the electronic documents are communicated to corresponding software modules, and the document processing device commences a selected document processing operation on each of the electronic documents by a corresponding software module. Each application-specific module is adapted for processing a document processing request for one or more types of documents that are associated with one specific application.

Abstract:

The subject application is directed to a mobile document processing system and method. A request for a transient address corresponding to mobile document processing operations is first received from an associated user. Upon receipt of the request, a transient address is generated corresponding to the associated user. Transient address data is then generated for routing electronic documents in accordance with a received document processing request. A document processing request is then received corresponding to a request for the performance of processing of at least one electronic document. The at least one electronic document is then routed to an associated document processing device, data storage device, or facsimile device corresponding to the transient address. The associated document processing device, data storage device, or facsimile device then commences a document processing operation according to the received document processing request. Upon the occurrence of a selected event, the transient address is deleted.

Abstract:

The subject application is directed to a system and method for user-specific discovery and initiation of a default document processing device. First, a computing device is placed in data communication with an associated data network. Device data corresponding to document processing devices accessible by the computing device is then retrieved. Via the associated data network, data communication is established between the computing device and the document processing devices. The relative location between the computing device and each of the document processing devices is then determined according to the established data communication. A default document processing device subset is thereafter selected from the available document processing devices based upon the determined location. Operation of the document processing device subset is then enabled via the computing device.

Abstract:

A system and method for file-based configuration of a document output device is provided. Following the receipt of electronic document data and instruction data from an associated workstation, DEVMODE data is retrieved from an XML data file. The instruction data is then compared with the DEVMODE data to determine whether the DEVMODE data requires changes so that the document output device incorporates the instruction data into the output of the electronic document. When the DEVMODE data requires updating, data stored in the data file is used to generate a new DEVMODE structure associated with the document output device. This new data is then used to output the electronic document incorporating the instructions contained within the instruction data.

Abstract:

A server-to-client data delivery system and method is provided. The system includes a server capable of providing a variety of services to one or more client devices. Each client device periodically transmits a heartbeat signal to the server over an associated network including client device identification data. When the server fails to receive a heartbeat from an associated client device, an alert signal is generated indicating the non-responsiveness of the associated client device. For each responsive client device, the server performs an identification of the device and determines whether new or updated software, or supplemental data, is available for the client. The server then generates response data including the next heartbeat interval and the software or supplemental data. The response data is then transmitted to the responsive and identified client, whereupon the server proceeds to perform the same process for each responsive and identified client.
