Abstract:
A method is used to configure an extended analog computer for use as an application controller. The method includes selecting input pins from among a plurality of pins in a continuous sheet processor, selecting an arrangement of intermediate and output pins from among the remaining pins in the plurality of pins in the continuous sheet processor, applying a pattern data set to the input pins, using an evolutionary algorithm, coupling current sources and sinks to the intermediate and output pins, measuring an error between an output and its expected value, and continuing to select intermediate and output pin arrangements, apply pattern data sets, and measure errors until a configuration threshold is met.

Abstract:
Embodiments of a system and a method for assigning a plurality of resources to a plurality of targets in near real-time are described herein. An evolutionary algorithm such as a particle swarm algorithm iteratively evaluates a predetermined fitness function characteristic of a system including the plurality of resources to find solutions containing optimal resource assignments. Resource parameters are changed based on the assignments to operate on the targets.

Systems and methods for designing and controlling distributed generation resources are disclosed. Monolithic or distributed controllers control the power requests sent to each distributed generation resource to achieve optimal efficiency using rule-based and/or fuzzy logic-based control techniques. High-impedance fault (HIF) detection circuitry allows power export to the utility grid in normal operating circumstances, and when an islanding condition is detected, ceases that export within two seconds and prevents further export until the condition is cleared.

Abstract:
Streaming data at a sensor is sensed and received. The streaming data includes a plurality of observations. For a current observation in the plurality of observations, a health of the current observation is determined. Based upon the health of the current observation, a penalty is determined. A Sensor Health Index (SHI) for the current observation is obtained by aggregating the penalty with at least one SHI of one or more previous observations from the plurality of observations. An alarm is selectively generated based upon the SHI of the current observation.

Abstract:
The present invention is in the field of producing organic acids and other useful chemicals via biological fermentation using glycerol as a source of carbon. Novel microorganisms and fermentation processes are described that are capable of converting glycerol to useful organic acids in high yield and high purity.
