Abstract:

When programming a contiguous page of memory storage units, every time a memory storage unit has reached its targeted state and is program-inhibited or locked out from further programming, it creates a perturbation on an adjacent memory storage unit still under programming. The present invention provides as part of a programming circuit and method in which an offset to the perturbation is added to the adjacent memory storage unit still under programming. The offset is added as voltage offset to a bit line of a storage unit under programming. The voltage offset is a predetermined function of whether none or one or both of its neighbors are in a mode that creates perturbation, such as in a program inhibit mode. In this way, an error inherent in programming in parallel high-density memory storage units is eliminated or minimized.

Abstract:

A method of estimating a time variant Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) while eliminating Inter-carrier Interference (ICI) is disclosed, where the time variant channel matrix is estimated at channel taps using a Basis Expansion Model (BEM). The BEM method decomposes the time variant channel into a group of basis functions in the frequency domain. Coefficients are estimated using a sub-space tracking algorithm that decreases the dimensions of the coefficient matrix allowing for simpler calculation of the estimated signal. The coefficients matrix is estimated using a conjugate gradient iterative method that may be stopped after 6-8 iterations to arrive at an acceptable estimation. Finally, the transmitted data is estimated, again using the conjugate gradient method iteratively, wherein the conjugate gradient method is stopped after a small number of iterations.

Abstract:

Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is used to map the surface elevation and thickness of the cornea. The OCT maps are used to plan laser procedures for the treatment of an irregular, opacified or weakened cornea, and in the treatment of refractive errors. In the excimer laser phototherapeutic keratectomy (PTK) procedure, the OCT data is used to plan a map of ablation depth needed to restore a smooth optical surface. In the excimer laser photorefractive keratectomy procedure, OCT mapping of epithelial thickness is used to achieve clean laser epithelial removal. In femtosecond laser anterior keratoplasty procedure, OCT data is used to plan the depth of femtosecond laser dissection to remove an anterior layer of the cornea, leaving a smooth recipient bed of uniform thickness to receive a disk of donated corneal tissue. The linkage of an OCT system to a precise laser surgical system enables the performance of new procedures that are safer, less invasive and produce faster visual recovery than conventional surgical procedures.

Abstract:

One method includes estimating, by a lost packet determination logic, an expected number of packets, expected to be received within a time interval, based on packet arrival speed; and determining a number of lost packets by using the expected number of packets and a packet counter wherein the packet counter counts a plurality of received packets. The method may further include comparing the expected number of packets to the packet counter and determining that the expected number of packets is greater than the packet counter; and then using the expected number of packets and the packet counter to determine the actual number of lost packets, where the actual number of lost packets exceeds the packet counter maximum. The methods may also introduce erasures when there is uncertainty of whether some packets or bytes are in error, such that a simplified erasure-based Reed-Solomon decoder may be used.

Abstract:

For the removal of trace quantities of iodine-containing contaminants from corrosive liquid feed streams, an adsorbent with distinct advantages over prior-art materials is provided. The treatment method involves the use of a metal phthalocyanine compound where the metal selected from the group consisting of silver, mercury, copper, lead, thallium, palladium, or mixtures thereof. Such metals are known to be reactive with the iodine-containing contaminants in the feed stream. Furthermore, the metal phthalocyanine is deposited on a carrier material selected from the group consisting of an activated carbon, a phenolic polymer, and an inorganic refractory metal oxide. Such adsorbent materials have proven substantially insoluble even in corrosive liquid feed streams associated with the invention. Reactivation and regeneration techniques, which are generally incompatible with prior-art adsorbent materials, are also disclosed.

The present invention features a method for automated image-based prediction of physiologic and pathologic conditions of a vaginal wall of a patient using optical coherence tomography. In some embodiments, the method may comprise capturing, by a functional optical coherence tomography imaging probe, one or more images of the vaginal wall. The method may further comprise constructing a computing device a visualization of the vaginal wall, discretizing the visualization of the vaginal wall in to a discrete model, measuring a plurality of objective attributes from the discrete model, generating, based on the plurality of objective attributes, a Vaginal Health Index (VHI), generating an associated risk value based on the VHI and a plurality of patient attributes, reconstructing the visualization of the vaginal wall based on the associated risk value, and mapping the associated risk value to the visualization of the vaginal wall such that one or more at-risk areas are highlighted.

Abstract:

The present invention is directed to a system for multimodal imaging through the use of a dual-rotational imaging catheter. The system may comprise a swept-source laser for providing a light source for OCT and OCE imaging, and an optical fiber coupler that splits said light source into one for a compensation arm and the other for the imaging catheter. The imaging catheter may comprise a rotary apparatus for a first scanning method, and a distal motor for a second scanning method. The dual-rotational model may allow for optimal performance of multiple imaging modalities. The imaging catheter may utilize optical imaging and acoustic imaging. A balanced photodetector receives input from the destinations of both light sources to offset DC noise. An US pulser/receiver is used for US imaging, a multifunction I/O module, a function generator, and an amplifier are used for generating an acoustic excitation force for OCE imaging.
