Abstract:
A stackable rack may comprise: at least two rails, a cross-section of each rail having a shape resembling a staircase, first step portion of which represents a first surface upon which a reflector can be disposed; and a second step portion of which represents a second surface which can support another rail. A method of making a narrow band x-ray filter may comprise: providing a substrate; and stacking one or more reflection units in succession upon the substrate, each reflection unit including a rack (such as mentioned above) and a reflector held by the rack. An apparatus to produce a substantially narrow band x-ray beam may include such a filter. An apparatus to make an x-ray image of a subject may include: the apparatus to produce a substantially narrow band x-ray beam, e. g. , as set forth above, and an x-ray detector arranged to receive the narrow band x-ray.

Abstract:
A portable flood-barrier-system can include a portable block of substantial mass; and a deflatable bladder, a first portion of which is disposed on a substrate; the block being disposed at least partly on the first portion of the bladder so as to releasably compress the first portion between the block and the substrate and so releasably hold the first portion therebetween due to friction.

Abstract:
An x-ray reflector may include: a substrate; a first layer formed on the substrate, the first layer including a relatively higher-Z material, where Z represents the atomic number; and a second layer formed on the first layer, the second layer including a relatively lower-Z material; at least one of the first layer and the second layer exhibiting a taper in an axial direction extending between a first end of the substrate and a second end of the substrate.

Abstract:
A narrow band x-ray filter can include: a substrate; and a sheaf of one or more reflection units stacked upon each other on the substrate. Each reflection unit can include: a first set of at least two discrete spacers on a respective underlying structures, a reflector disposed on the first set of spacers so as to form a void between the respective underlying structure and the reflector; and a first set of at least two discrete shims disposed on the first set of at least two spacers, each shim being at least substantially the same thickness as the reflector. A first device to produce a narrow band x-ray beam may include such a filter or an x-ray telescope. A second device to make an x-ray image of a subject may include the first device.

Abstract:
The present invention provides a method and apparatus for detecting and monitoring obstructive sleep apnea. The apparatus includes an intracardiac impedance sensor to measure intracardiac impedance, a movement sensor to measure an amount of movement of a patient, and a controller operatively coupled to said intracardiac impedance sensor and said movement sensor, said controller adapted to receive at least one of an intracardiac impedance and the amount of movement of the patient and detect obstructive sleep apnea based upon said intracardiac impedance and said movement.

Although water covers three-fourths of the earth's surface, it is unevenly distributed throughout. In some places, the demand for water exceeds the supply. There are several hundred desalination plants in the world, but it is very costly to produce fresh water. The Modular Clear Roof and Dark Basin Solar Still is a low-cost way to produce fresh water. The multiple modular roofs made of glass and/or clear plastic acts like a greenhouse. The sun shines through the roof creating heat. The salt water evaporates and condenses to make fresh water. This fresh water is collected in the half-pipes. Through a gravity flow, this water is collected in a water tank. This is feasible and effective in areas where the demand for water is high, especially in the equatorial or desert area.
When a person is having guests over, there may be some light switches that they may not want their guests to touch. The switch may turn on a light outdoors, or it may turn on another light that the host may not want turned on. If the guest forgets to turn off the light switch, the light that it turned on will be wasting electricity and it may even burn out the bulb. It is easily installed, and it sends the message that the light switch is not to be touched. The wall light switch cover can prevent a child from turning on a dangerous electrical appliance, or some other device hazardous to their well-being. The wall light switch cover is a useful invention that prevents light switches from being turned on and off. However, because one side is left open, the proper persons can turn on and off the light switch. The cover sends a blatant message to adults that the light switch should not be touched.
