Abstract:
A calibration device for calibrating a motor for providing a substantially constant airflow in a ventilation system is disclosed. In one embodiment, a calibration device includes an adjusting module configured to adjust an electric current supplied to a motor until a monitored airflow rate reaches a target value; a determining module configured to determine a difference between values of the electric current before and after adjusting; and a communication module configured to cause to store, in a memory of the motor or ventilation system, the difference as one of adjustment values corresponding to one of a plurality of predetermined rotational speed ranges of the motor.
A ventilation system for providing a substantially constant airflow is disclosed. In one embodiment, a ventilation system includes: a duct; a fan configured to generate an airflow through the duct; a motor configured to drive the fan; an electric current detector configured to detect an electric current provided to the motor and to generate a current feedback signal; a motor speed detector configured to detect a rotational speed of the motor and to generate a speed feedback signal; and a controller configured to determine in which speed range among a plurality of speed ranges the speed of the motor is, based at least partly on the speed feedback signal. The controller is further configured to change the electric current by a compensation amount pre-assigned to the determined speed range so as to reach a target value.
Electrically Communtated Motor With Data Communication Device
An electronically commutated motor (ECM) includes windings, a power switch, an infrared transceiver and an electromagnetic shield. The power switch is configured to provide pulse width modulated (PWM) power signals to the windings and to generate a substantial level of electromagnetic noises at PWM frequencies during its switching operation. The infrared transceiver is configured to communicate with an external device using infrared signals and convert electrical signals from and to infrared signals that carry data. The electromagnetic shield is configured to substantially shield the infrared transceiver from the electromagnetic noises of PWM frequencies from the power switch.
Apparatus For Selecting Speed Of Electrically Commutated Motor For Use In Hvac System
A DC motor system includes a plurality of speed taps coupled to an AC source and a variable speed DC motor. A circuit determines which speed taps are coupled to the AC source, outputs corresponding logic signals, and isolates digital circuits from the AC source. A digital logic device accesses from memory a value corresponding to the upper limit speed of the variable speed DC motor, determines a commanded motor speed based at least in part on the logic signals and the upper limit speed value, and outputs a pulse width modulated signal having a duty cycle corresponding to the determined commanded motor speed. A driver receives the pulse width modulated signal and outputs a corresponding signal. The variable speed DC motor receives the driver output signal, and rotates a rotor at a speed corresponding to the pulse width modulated signal duty cycle.
The present invention relates to a three-dimensional (3-D) switched reluctance motor which is configured to minimize a leakage of magnetic flux three-dimensionally formed at a stator core by means of a three-dimensional configuration of a stator pole and a rotor pole, thereby increasing motor efficiency and enhancing output. A rotor core is configured to surround an outer portion of the stator core, while not affecting rotation of the rotor core, including a portion where the stator pole is not previously provided, and the stator pole and the rotor pole extend to the portion, enabling magnetic flux previously leaking through the extended portion of the stator pole and the rotor pole to contribute to reluctance torque.
