Abstract:
The present invention includes a method for preparing a nanoparticle filled nanocomposite material, the method including the steps of providing a plurality of nanoparticles. attaching a first layer of organic ligand to the nanoparticle via a phosphate or phosphonate linkage, covalently attaching a second layer of matrix compatible polymer to said first layer of organic ligand to produce modified nanoparticles, providing a polymer matrix and dispersing the modified nanoparticles in the polymer matrix, wherein the dispersement of the modified nanoparticles into the polymer matrix results in a nanocomposite material, and wherein the modified nanoparticles are modified such that the first layer is proximal to the nanoparticle and the second layer is distal to the nanoparticle. Also within the scope of the invention are modified nanoparticles, alternative nanocomposite materials and methods of making the same.

Abstract:
The invention relates to a modified nanoparticle including a nanoparticle and a diblock copolymer covalently attached to the nanoparticle, the diblock copolymer comprising a first block polymer of molecular weight greater than 1000 attached to the nanoparticle and a second block polymer of molecular weight greater than 1000 covalently linked to the first block polymer, wherein at least one of the first block polymer and second block polymer comprises repeating units having an azide, acetylene or triazole side chain. Nanocomposites incorporating modified nanoparticles, as well as methods of making modified nanoparticles and nanocomposites are also disclosed.

Abstract:
Systems and methods that enable implementation of content aware file management labeling. Techniques disclosed enable real-time analysis of a data file so that associations between the data file and applicable file management label(s) can be automatically suggested and/or made while a user is working in the data file. A user may deploy an application on a client device to edit a data file. While the user is actively editing the data file, the application may transmit modification data to a content analysis service which analyzes the modification data to determine whether the modifications result in a file management label becoming applicable to the data file. Ultimately, the content analysis service may transmit a verdict to the client device to cause the application to display a labeling suggestion to the user and/or to automatically apply a label to the data file while it is being worked on by the user.

Abstract:
Techniques for labeling data files that enable a file management label to persist on a data file. Variations disclosed herein enable a file management label to be embedded within a data file so that the file management label propagates with the data file when the data file is copied and/or moved between systems and/or workloads. In some embodiments, an application may be configured to write the file management label directly into a stream of the data file. For example, an application client that is run locally on a client device may open the data file by accessing its corresponding stream. While the data file is open within the application client such that a user may edit content of the data file, the application client may be caused to associate the file management label with the data file. Ultimately, the application client may write this association directly into the stream.

Abstract:
The relative health of data storage drives may be determined based, at least in some aspects, on data access information and/or other drive operation information. In some examples, upon receiving the operation information from a computing device, a health level of a drive may be determined. The health level determination may be based at least in part on operating information received from a client entity. Additionally, a storage space allocation instruction or operation may be determined for execution. The allocation instruction or operation determined to be performed may be based at least in part on the determined health level.
