Abstract:

Methods for computer-aided design and corresponding systems and computer-readable mediums. A method includes receiving a CAD model including a plurality of intersecting fluid channels, and determining a fluid inlet for the fluid channels. The method includes displaying possible fluid flow directions at an intersection of fluid channels. Abstract:

A photodetector structure over a partial length of a silicon waveguide structure within a photonic integrated circuit (PIC) chip. The photodetector structure is embedded within a cladding material surrounding the waveguide structure. The photodetector structure includes an absorption region, for example comprising Ge. A sidewall of the cladding material may be lined with a sacrificial spacer. After forming the absorption region, the sacrificial spacer may be removed and passivation material formed over a sidewall of the absorption region. Between the absorption region an impurity-doped portion of the waveguide structure there may be a carrier multiplication region, for example comprising crystalline silicon. If present, edge facets of the carrier multiplication region may be protected by a spacer material during the formation of an impurity-doped charge carrier layer. Occurrence of edge facets may be mitigated by embedding a portion of the photodetector structure with a thickness of the waveguide structure.

Abstract:

A computer-aided design (CAD) system may support spatially-aware detection of trapped support areas in 3D printing. The CAD system may detect trapped support areas in the surface mesh in that detected trapped support area do not have linear access to an opening in the surface mesh, including by surrounding the surface mesh with a virtual bounding box that encloses the surface mesh, mapping the virtual bounding box and surface mesh into a 3D cube space, and tracking mesh cubes and bounding cubes of the 3D cube space. For a given mesh face of the surface mesh, The CAD system may determine whether the given mesh face is part of a trapped support area by projecting a ray from the given mesh face and assessing the given mesh face as part of a trapped support area based on the ray passing through a mesh cube or a bounding cube.
