Autism insurance coverage for children is now in Georgia law
The law, which passed both chambers unanimously, came after a years-long effort by parents of children with autism who made deeply personal appeals to legislators. They were led by Anna Bullard, who struggled to pay for therapy for daughter Ava when she was 3. Anna Bullard, 34, has been stalking the halls of the Capitol for seven years, since Ava was three, advocating for an autism insurance bill. Autism is a terrible diagnosis, she said, especially since most people equate it with profound mental retardation.
