Abstract:

A machine may be configured to identify skills for a projected next job position. For example, the machine performs an analysis of profile data associated with a plurality of members of a social network service. Based on the analysis of the profile data and a present job position of a particular member of the social network service, the machine identifies a projected next position in a career path model. The machine identifies a cohort of other members of the social network service. The identifying of the cohort may be based on each cohort member holding the projected next position in a respective career. Each cohort member may be associated with one or more skills. The machine identifies one or more over-indexed skills for the cohort based on the one or more skills of the cohort members. The machine generates a recommendation that includes the one or more over-indexed skills.

Abstract:

During an analysis technique, a cohort of individuals is identified based on a set of attributes. Significance metrics for the individuals in the cohort are calculated based on profiles of the individuals and behaviors of the group of individuals, which includes the cohort, when interacting with the profiles. For example, a significance metric for a given individual may include a number of views of a profile of the given individual, by a group of individuals, during a time interval and/or a number of connection requests to the profile of the given individual, by the group of individuals, during the time interval. Based on the significance metrics, the subset of the individuals may be identified. This subset may include individuals that have achieved career milestones exceeding those of the other individuals in the cohort (e.g., notable individuals).

Abstract:

Obtaining alumni data from a database includes storing standardized alumni data in alumni data profiles, receiving a selected data entity representing an institution, searching the alumni data profiles to locate the profiles of alumni of the institution, determining a plurality of ranked sets of data by searching the profiles of alumni of the institution, and displaying each of the elements of the plurality of ranked sets of data respectively as elements in a plurality of facets. The elements in the plurality of facets may be displayed visually as a graphics display. A further operation may include receiving a selected data entity representing an element of a first facet and, responsive to receiving the selected data entity, displaying, at each of the facets of the plurality of facets other than the first facet, the elements of the facet ranked in order of the number of alumni in each element of the facet.
