Major General J. H. Admire, U.S. Marine Corps, Commanding General, 1st Marine Division
Professional achievement in the superior performance of duties while serving as the Regimental Commanding Officer’s Driver/Radio Transmit Operator, 11th Marines, 1st Marine Division from February 1996 to December 1997. During this period, Corporal MacDonald performed his duties in an exemplary and highly professional manner. A communicator by trade, he was an invaluable asset to the Commanding Officer, particularly in the field. Through four Desert Firing Exercises, Corporal MacDonald endured weeks on-end with little or no sleep, all while maintaining his bearing and performing his duties admirably. His knowledge of the Single Channel Ground Airborne Radio System and global positioning system, combined with his astute land navigation abilities were crucial in freeing the Colonel to command the Regiment. Corporal MacDonald’s unmatched perseverance, dedication, and devotion to duty reflected great credit upon himself and were in keeping with the highest traditions of the Marine Corps and United States Naval Service.
