A method of operating an electronic gaming system includes receiving value from a human user of an electronic gaming machine, initiating a machine-implemented game on the electronic gaming machine, displaying indicia representative of a game state on a display, receiving input from the human user via a user interface associated with the electronic gaming machine, determining an outcome of the game, determining an estimate of the human user's probability of winning the game, the estimate having reduced variance compared to a simple average of the human user's outcomes, taking a set, predetermined action if the estimate is outside of the predetermined limits.

Abstract:

A method of simulating a gaming tournament utilizing a plurality of electronic game machines in a quasi-tournament includes the steps of: a) receiving value from a plurality of human users of the electronic game machines, the received value corresponding to a plurality of wagering credits whereby each human user is provided with a plurality of wagering units enabling the human user to participate in the quasi-tournament by playing one or more games on one of the electronic game machines, b) initiating a machine-implemented game on each game machine used in the quasi-tournament, whereby a human user may play the game using the electronic game machine to participate in the quasi-tournament, c) receiving input from the human user via a user interface associated with the electronic game machine to play the machine-implemented game, d) determining an outcome for each machine-implemented game played by each of the plurality of human users using the electronic game machines, e) updating the number of wagering units held by each human user based upon each outcome determined in step d), f) repeating steps b)-e) for the duration of the tournament, g) comparing the number of wagering units won by each human user in the quasi-tournament and determining one or more winners of the quasi-tournament and h) providing value to the one or more winners of the quasi-tournament.

Abstract:

In a method of operating an electronic gaming system including a machine-implemented two player symmetric game, value is received from a human user of a machine-implemented electronic game in the form of a wager on the outcome of the game. The human user is prompted to select a game option which is received via a user interface associated with a user device. The human user selects the game option such that the human user may receive a jackpot if the human user's position at the conclusion of the machine-implemented game is greater than a predetermined criteria regardless of the position of the machine-implemented game, the game is played, an outcome determined, and value transferred to the human user if the human user wins the game or if the human user's position at the conclusion of the game is equal to or greater than the predetermined criteria.

Abstract:

A system for providing electronic games includes a central office processor coupled to a communications interface for communication with at least one electronic game machine. The central office processor initiates a machine-implemented skill-based game on at least one electronic game machine responsive to a first user indication on an interface of the electronic game machine by at least one participant and initiates a secondary skill-based game on the at least one electronic game machine responsive to a second user indication on the interface of the electronic game machine by the at least one participant. The central office processor determines an outcome for the machine-implemented skill-based game, based on information uploaded to the central office processor by the at least one electronic game machine responsive to at least one third user indication on the interface of the electronic game machine by the at least one participant. The central office processor updates a number of wagering units held by the at least one participant based upon the determined outcome and compares the number of wagering units held by the at least one participant to a predetermined number of wagering units for the at least one participant entered in the secondary skill-based game. If the number of wagering units held by the at least one participant is greater than the predetermined number of wagering units, the processor determines if an elapsed time that the at least one participant has played the secondary skill-based game is less than a predetermined time interval. If the elapsed time is less than the predetermined time interval, the processor provides the at least one participant a secondary skill-based game prize.
