Abstract:

A distribution system of programs and ads includes transmitting one or more ad channels to user devices. An ad channel includes ads and ratings that indicate a likelihood of interest of a user for an ad. The ratings are calculated based on ad profiles and user profiles. A user device selects ads to play during an ad insertion period of a program based on the rating.

Abstract:

An approach for enabling audio content to be directed to a select user from any location within a premises is described. A directional sound module determines a signal strength of a mobile device associated with a user relative to a wireless access point located within a premises and correlates the signal strength to a reference location within the premises based on predetermined wireless fingerprint information. The directional sound module then determines a direction to transmit an ultrasound signal for conveying audible sound to the user.

Abstract:

A device includes a processor. The processor is configured to determine a hit time for each of a plurality of content items based on at least one of users' history of access to the content items on content distribution clusters in a content distribution network, the users' past ratings of the content items, and social network information associated with the users. The hit time of a content item indicates a number of times that the content item is likely to be accessed by the users. The processor is further configured to compute caching priorities of the content items based on a caching policy of the device and the determined hit times, and initiate a redistribution, over a network, of the plurality of content items over the content distribution clusters of the content distribution network based on the caching priorities.

Abstract:

An exemplary adaptive Hypertext Transfer Protocol (“HTTP”) media streaming system may be configured to stream a media program from an HTTP media streaming server subsystem to a client device during an adaptive HTTP media streaming session in which predefined segments of the media program are progressively downloaded from the HTTP media streaming server subsystem to the client device by way of a network connection. For each next predefined segment of the media program to be downloaded, the server subsystem may dynamically select, based on one or more of the exemplary factors disclosed herein, a version of the next predefined segment of the media program from a plurality of versions of the next predefined segment of the media program and download the selected version of the next predefined segment of the media program to the client device. Corresponding methods and systems are also disclosed.

Abstract:

A method, a device, and a non-transitory storage medium are described in which a global identification service is provided. The service includes a selection of an Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) address to an end device. The service encrypts a unique identifier of the end device with an encryption key to generate an IPv6 address. The service verifies whether the IPv6 address is an IPv6 address allocated to or owned by a service provider. When the IPv6 address is an allocated or owned IPv6 address, the IPv6 address is assigned to the end device. When the IPv6 address is not an allocated or owned IPv6 address, the service selects another encryption key until a suitable IPv6 address is generated. Subsequent to an assignment of the IPv6 address, a network uses the IPv6 address as a globally unique identifier for the end device.

Abstract:

A method, a device, and a non-transitory storage medium are provided to store a hardware identifier that uniquely identifies an IoT device; perform an attachment procedure with a wireless network, wherein the attachment procedure includes authenticating the IoT device by the wireless network and establishing a bearer connection; establish a secure channel with an authentication device via the bearer connection, in response to successfully completing the attachment procedure; transmit, to the authentication device, a first request to authenticate the IoT device, wherein the first request includes the hardware identifier; receive, from the authentication device, a first response that indicates whether the IoT device is authenticated; and determine that the IoT device is authenticated based on the first response.
