Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a gauging system and method for using the same for determining the size of a lesion within a patients body prior to stenting the lesion. In one embodiment the gauging system includes a catheter having an elongated shaft with proximal and distal ends, and an outer sheath formed of a compliant material and disposed about at least a portion of the catheter elongated shaft and being slidable over the same. In another embodiment, the gauging system further includes a radially expandable member formed of the same or different compliant material mounted on a distal section of the shaft and has an interior chamber in fluid communication with an inflation lumen extending within at least a portion of a distal shaft section to a location spaced proximally from the shaft distal end.

Abstract:
A catheter assembly comprising a shaft and at least one flexible radiopaque marker affixed with the shaft. Flexibility of radiopaque marker is achieved by using a segmented band of radiopaque material or a coiled band formed by winding a wire or hollow tube filled with radiopaque material. The flexible radiopaque marker may be affixed with the shaft by an adhesive, by swaging, by crimping, by soldering, or by spring-action tension fit against the shaft.

Abstract:
A regrooming device for a balloon catheter, comprising a tubular member having a proximal section, a distal section, and an inner lumen extending therein configured to receive a balloon of a balloon catheter; and a mandrel disposed within the inner lumen and having a proximal end configured to enter a guide wire lumen at a distal section of the balloon catheter to facilitate guiding the distal section of the catheter into the inner lumen of the regrooming device, and a distal end secured to the distal section of the tubular member.
This invention relates to poly(ester amide)s (PEAs) comprising inactivated terminal amino and carboxyl groups, methods of synthesizing the inactivated PEAs and uses for them in the treatment of vascular diseases.

Abstract:
Provided herein is an end-capped poly(ester amide) PEA) polymer and the method of making the polymer. The PEA polymer is substantially free of active amino end groups and/or activated carboxyl groups. The PEA polymer can form a coating on an implantable device, one example of which is a stent. The coating can optionally include a biobeneficial material and/or optionally with a bioactive agent. The implantable device can be used to treat or prevent a disorder such as one of atherosclerosis, thrombosis, restenosis, hemorrhage, vascular dissection or perforation, vascular aneurysm, vulnerable plaque, chronic total occlusion, claudication, anastomotic proliferation for vein and artificial grafts, bile duct obstruction, ureter obstruction, tumor obstruction, and combinations thereof.

Abstract:
Electrodes for electrochemical processes, especially anodes for impressed current systems for corrosion prevention, have an electrochemically active outer surface comprising a first element, preferably a conductive polymer element, and a plurality of second elements, preferably carbon or graphite fibers, which are partially embedded in the second element and which are electrochemically more active than the first element.

Abstract:
A perfusion-type intravascular catheter having an outer sheath disposed about the catheter body with a sealing element on the distal end of the sheath to seal off the distal end thereof at a location distal to perfusion ports provided in the wall of the catheter body proximal to an expandable working member such as an inflatable balloon whereby blood can be directed through the proximal perfusion ports into an inner lumen extending through the working member and out of perfusion ports provided into the walls of the catheter distal to the expandable working member to ensure that ischemic conditions do not occur distal to the catheter when the working member is expanded to perform a vascular procedure therein.
This invention relates to poly(ester amide)s (PEAs) comprising inactivated terminal amino and carboxyl groups, methods of synthesizing the inactivated PEAs and uses for them in the treatment of vascular diseases.
