This application relates to a wireless charger with increased efficiency during operation. The wireless charging assembly includes a wireless charger and an electronic device. A transmitter coil in the wireless charger can induct magnetic flux to a receiver coil in the electronic device via a magnetic flux pathway.

A wireless charging mat and method of operating the same. The wireless charging mat includes a detection system configured to determine a location and an orientation of an electronic device on the wireless charging mat. The location and orientation are determined based on detected locations of one or more structural features of the electronic device. The wireless charging mat is operated according to the detected location and orientation.

Abstract:

A magnetic alignment system can include a primary annular magnetic alignment component and a secondary annular magnetic alignment component. The primary alignment component can include an inner annular region having a first magnetic orientation, an outer annular region having a second magnetic orientation opposite to the first magnetic orientation, and a non-magnetized central annular region disposed between the primary inner annular region and the primary outer annular region. The secondary alignment component can have a magnetic orientation with a radial component. Additional features, such as a rotational magnetic alignment component and/or an NFC coil and circuitry can be included.

Abstract:

A cable can include a cable core surrounded by an outer sleeve having a uniform thickness and further having a first longitudinal section having a first stiffness (e.g., corresponding to a flexible cable), a second longitudinal section having a second stiffness (e.g., corresponding to a rigid cable), and a third longitudinal section between the first and second longitudinal sections, where the second stiffness is greater than the first stiffness and where a stiffness of the third longitudinal section varies between the first stiffness and the second stiffness. The second longitudinal section can provide strain relief for the cable.

The wireless charger includes a connector, a charging assembly and a cable connecting the connector and the charging assembly. A converter component has been moved away from the charging assembly, where an electronic device is placed for charging, to the connector. In some embodiments, one or more electromagnetic shielding components protect the components of the wireless charger.

Abstract:

This disclosure describes a portable electronic device that includes an inductive charging receiver for receiving power wireless from a charging device. The portable electronic device includes a device housing including a wall having a channel formed in an interior-facing surface of the wall. The portable electronic device also includes an inductive coil assembly for receiving power wirelessly that is coupled to the interior facing surface. The inductive coil assembly is a flat coil that includes concentric loops of electrically conductive material that define a central opening. A first electrical lead extends away from a peripheral portion of the flat coil and a second electrical lead extends from the central opening, into the channel formed in the back wall and beneath one side of the concentric loops.

Abstract:

A system for inductive power transmission includes a curved interface surface and a plurality of coil elements positioned underneath the curved interface surface. Each of the plurality of coil elements is positioned such that at least one edge of the respective coil element is adjacent to an edge of at least one other of the plurality of coil elements. And, each of the plurality of coil elements is positioned in a plane different from planes in which adjacent coil elements are positioned. Each of the plurality of coil elements are operable to at least one of: inductively transmit power to at least one coil of at least one electronic device; or inductively receive power from the at least one coil of the at least one electronic device.
