Abstract:

A Web agent software interface between a relational database and Web-based application programs employs stored SQL procedures to store, update and retrieve multimedia objects. Web based applications manipulate the data in the relational database table by using URLs consisting of an alphanumeric designation of the host computer and port, the Web agent program associated with the database, the database agent configuration information associated with the database, specific stored SQL procedure for performing the desired data manipulation, and additional parameter data needed to specify and manipulate a particular multimedia object. A clipboard application program provides a graphical user interface which a user may employ to select and view selected multi-media objects stored in selected relational database tables, and to transfer the Web URLs designating those selected objects to other Web applications, such as HTML authoring tools, using convenient âdrag-and-dropâ and âcut, copy and pasteâ operations. The Web agent program retrieves data from the database which are designated by such URLs, and accepts POST requests from HTML forms which are activated by the user of a Web browser to load or update data in the relational database.

Abstract:

An Internet gateway server for dynamically loading a database with data extracted from selected header fields and the body of inbound and outbound HTTP messages exchanged between one or more servers and the Web browsers which connect with those servers. The gateway server or “WebJacket” is interposed in the communications pathway between the server(s) and client(s) receiving each of inbound messages from a client and forwarding the received inbound messages to the server(s). The WebJacket extracts a first selected set of data contained in predetermined ones of said inbound messages and storing this incoming message data in predetermined locations in a relational database. The WebJacket further receives, stores and forwards each outbound message from the server(s) and extracts a second selected set of data from the outbound messages. To speed performance, the WebJacket uses multithreaded processes to forward each message to its destination before or while the content of that message is being posted into the database. The specific information to be saved from each message, and the database location where it is to reside, is specified by configuration data accepted from a user in advance of handling the messages.

Abstract:

A method and system for searching for text in a document. In one embodiment, the method includes comparing a signature of text to be located with a signature of each section of text in the document. A distance from an expected location of the text to be matched is computed and compared to a location of each section of text in the document. An exact match of the signature of text to be located that is nearest to the expected location of the text to be located is sought. If an exact match of the signature is not found at the expected location, a close match to the signature, that is nearest to the expected location, is sought. If the exact match is found, the location of the exact match is identified as the location of the text being searched for. If the exact match is not found, and a close match is identified, the close match is identified as the location of the text being searched for. If a close match is not identified, the search is unsuccessful and the text can be considers as an orphan by the application using the invention.

Abstract:

The present invention is directed to collaborative document review. In one embodiment, the method includes creating a review version of an original document and storing the review document in a location that is simultaneously accessible by more than one reviewer, where each reviewer might be in a different location. Each reviewer is able to review at least one section of the review document and annotate, or comment on, the selected section of the review document. Once the annotation is created, the annotation can be posted and be immediately visible to each reviewer. Each reviewer can also provide further comment on any annotation. Annotations made in an earlier version of the review document can be retained and carried over into subsequent versions of the review document.

Abstract:

Systems, methods, and other embodiments associated with dynamic content archiving are disclosed. A system archive trigger parameter that is related to a present operational status of one or more system components is monitored. The system archive trigger parameter is evaluated with respect to a trigger condition. If the system archive trigger parameter meets the trigger condition, content is automatically selected for archiving based, at least in part, on a content archive criteria. The selected content is compressed and stored. In some embodiments, compressed content is automatically decompressed and provided to a user in response to the user's request for the content.
