Abstract:

Monitoring data is received from a remote device and represents a current status value of a monitored condition at the remote device. The monitored condition is characterized by a current state that can be any one of a number of possible states. A determination is made as to whether the current status value of the monitored condition as indicated by the received data satisfies a hysteresis criterion associated with the current state of the monitored condition. If the current status value of the monitored condition satisfies the hysteresis criterion, then a determination is made as to whether the hysteresis criterion has been continuously satisfied for a specified persistence period. If the hysteresis criterion has been continuously satisfied for the specified persistence period, then the current state of the monitored condition is changed to reflect the current status value of the monitored condition, and the changed current state is recorded.

Abstract:

An unknown named territory encloses a known physical target location that is specified by a target longitude and a target latitude. An operation is performed to identify a number of rectangular-shaped terrestrial areas that each enclose both the target longitude and the target latitude. Each of the identified rectangular-shaped terrestrial areas respectively encloses a polygonal-shaped named territory. Each polygonal-shaped named territory is defined by a respective circumscribing set of contiguously positioned vectors. An operation is performed to evaluate the circumscribing sets of contiguously positioned vectors of the polygonal-shaped named territories to determine if a given polygonal-shaped named territory includes both the target longitude and the target latitude. When both the target longitude and the target latitude are found to reside within a given polygonal-shaped named territory, the identity of the given polygonal-shaped named territory is conveyed.

Abstract:

A first hash result is generated at a client system in accordance with hash input parameters known to the client system. A second hash result is generated at a server system in accordance with hash input parameters known to the server system. Each of the first hash result and the second hash result is truncated in a same manner. The truncated first hash result is transmitted from the client system to the server system. The truncated first hash result as transmitted to the server system is compared with the truncated second hash result generated at the server system. Equality between the truncated first hash result as transmitted to the server system and the truncated second hash result generated at the server system authenticates the client system to the server system.

Abstract:

A method and/or system are described in which a server communicatively coupled with a set-top-box (STB) may predict a location of a pointer on a web browser running on the STB. The server may render the pointer based on the predicted pointer location. The server may send the rendered pointer to the STB, wherein the STB may composite a web page on the web browser based on the rendered pointer. The server may be synchronized with the STB based on event information received by the server from the STB such as, for example, keystroke events, click event, or other like event. The prediction of the pointer location may be based on actual pointer location information provided by the STB. A predetermined number of pointer locations may be predicted based on an actual pointer location and/or on a latency of a connection between the server and the STB.

Abstract:

An Internet capable set-top-box (STB) may be operable to extend a security boundary from the Internet capable STB to an application server to allow support of web browsing operations from the application server. A secure link between the Internet capable STB and the application server may be established. The Internet capable STB may communicate a request for web page information from a secure web server along with cryptographic credentials to the application server, via the secure link. The application server may be allowed to receive the web page information directly from the secure web server and process at least the unsupported portion of the received web page information. The Internet capable STB may then receive the web page information with at least the unsupported portion processed from the application server, via the secure link, for further processing and rendering.

A server may be used to handle at least some of processing of content that is based on web access operations initiated in a set-top box (STB), wherein one or more links between the server and the STB that are used to forward multimedia broadcasts are configured to free bandwidth for communicating at least a portion of the processed content to the STB. The bandwidth may be freed based on switched digital video (SDV) and/or dedicated IPTV channels or systems. The broadcast links may be reconfigured based on monitoring of multimedia broadcast access by the STB and/or one or more other STBs. The freed bandwidth in the multimedia broadcast links may be configured for unicast transport of processed content to a specific STB, or may be configured for multicast transport of the processed content to a plurality of STBs.

Abstract:

A video stream demultiplxer receives video streams comprising a selected current content channel and one or more adjacent content channels. Time stamp management is concurrently performed on the adjacent content channels while decoding the selected current content channel. Timing information such as Decoding Time Stamp (DTS) and Presentation Time Stamp (PTS) values, and/or random access points (RAPs) may be determined for pictures stored for the selected current content channel and the adjacent content channels. The determined timing information is utilized to determine a Program Clock Reference (PCR) value for each of the selected current channel and the adjacent channels for channel monitoring. A timebase, derived from a PCR rate that is determined based on the determined PCR value, is determined for decoding the selected current content channel. An adjacent content channel, which is primed during decoding of the selected current content channel, may be directly decoded for display if selected.
