Abstract:
The barrier properties of a water soluble gas barrier material are improved if the material is blended with a nanoparticle calcium carbonate having a size of from 10 to 250 nanometers. The barrier material is on a substrate to provide a substrate with gas barrier properties. A layer of heat sealable material may be applied to the exposed surface of the barrier material. A method for making the barrier coated substrate is disclosed.
Method For Intelligently Selecting A Wireless Communication Access Point
A method and system for selecting and connecting to an access point in a wireless network of devices, such as a Bluetooth network. Initially, an initiator device is preconfigured with a list of available access point addresses. The initiator device broadcasts an inquiry message that is received by available wireless devices which, in turn, respond with their respective addresses, occupancy level and device classification. The initiator device compares the respondent addresses with the preconfigured access point addresses and connects to a match, thus terminating the inquiry, provided certain fitness functions are satisfied. The fitness functions might include such considerations as occupancy rate, device classification, signal strength, or physical distance of separation. The list of addresses on the initiator device is updated automatically upon connecting with a network server whenever a new device is added or an old one removed from the network server's access point address list.
Cellulose Pulp Particle And Product To Promote Fluid Flow
A cellulose pulp particle having the shape of a general prismatoid having two parallel bases, the pulp particle comprising pulp fibers in a wet laid pulp sheet form, one of the bases having an area that is equal to or greater than the area of the other base, the area of the larger base being equal to or less than 35 mmand equal to or greater than 8 mm, the distance between the bases being equal to or greater than 0. 9 mm and equal to or less than 5 mm, the particle being treated with a material. In some embodiments the material can be a hydrophilic, hydrophobic or softening chemical or a film.

Abstract:
Blends of polyphenylene oxide-based polymers and lignin esters are described. These blends exhibit modulus of elasticity, tensile strength, and elongation at break values that are substantially the same as or greater than the modulus of elasticity, tensile strength, and elongation at break values for the polyphenylene oxide-based polymer alone. The blends provide compositions that have properties comparable to the polyphenylene oxide-based polymers, yet utilize less polymer.
