Abstract:

Circuitry monitors a plurality of rotating shafts, and provides a corresponding plurality of binary output words each characterizing the angular position of an associated shaft. Synchro and Scott "T" per-shaft monitoring elements are sampled by common multiplexer-central processor units which provide derived shaft position and shaft rate information to an appropriate one of plural shaft position output processors. In accordance with varying aspects of the present invention, the output processors include a rate multiplier controlled by the computer generated shaft rate signal, and a counter presetable by the CPU generated position signal, and advanced (decremented) by the rate multiplier output.

Abstract:

An ultrasonic blood flow velocimeter for measuring the velocity of blood flowing in an artery or vein beneath the skin of a patient, by insonating the tissue with ultrasonic energy, receiving doppler-shifted signals reflected by the blood and processing the signals to determine blood velocity. The signal processing and calculations result in an accurate measure of velocity which is independent of the angle between the probe and the blood flow. This gives more accurate results than other ultrasonic methods which approximate results because of angle dependency and the fact that in general this angle is unknown. The invention can also detect and discriminate between forward and reverse flows, even when they occur simultaneously, as in the case of insonating an artery and vein with opposite flows. The invention can also measure peak flow velocity, though efficient time domain processing of signals.

A circuit for monitoring the accuracy of the phase shift produced in an r. f. power distribution network in which the phase shift network includes diodes, means for sensing the conductive state of the terminating diodes, and structure for comparing the state of the diodes against a desired condition to provide a warning indication in the event the diodes are not in the proper condition to provide the desired phase shift.

Abstract:

Dialkyl-substituted. beta. -resorcylic acid esters having the structure: ##STR1## wherein each of R. sub. 1, R. sub. 2, and R. sub. 3 is lower alkyl may be readily prepared by reacting the corresponding dihydroresorcylic acid esters with sulfuryl chloride. These compounds, particularly, methyl 3,6-dimethyl-resorcylate and methyl 3-ethyl-6-methyl-resorcylate, have oakmoss-like odors rendering them valuable as perfume ingredients.

Abstract:

An r. f. power distribution network or scanner in which a TEM mode and a pair of selectively phase-shifted TE. sub. 11 modes are derived and applied to input ports of a cavity resonator to produce a desired r. f. power distribution at a plurality of output ports. The resonator is in the form of a generally cylindrical member in which the output ports are arranged circumferentially about the periphery and axially spaced from the TE. sub. 11 mode input ports. The latter are arranged symmetrically about the TEM mode input port.
