Awe-Inspiring Images of Star Formation Collected [Video]
These impressive visual displays occur when narrow plumes of gaseous material are fired, from young star formations, towards nearby gas and dust regions in space. The Herbig-Haro name derives from the pair of astronomers who had made the phenomenons discovery, George Herbig and Guillermo Haro.
Herbig-Haro plumes are typically short-lived features of stars that usually last about 100,000 years. They were named after astronomers George Herbig and Guillermo Haro, who studied the objects in the 1950s.

These Unprecedented Hubble Movies Just Left Me Speechless
The team of scientistled by Patrick Hartigan, of Rice University in Houston, Texasfocused on some of the Herbig-Haro objects, which were studied for the first time in 1950 by George Herbig and Guillermo Haro. Located 1,350 light-years from Earth, these objects are near the Orion Nebula in the nort
shoot out of distant pulsars, black holes and other objects across the universe, but the closest ones come from newborn stars within the Milky Way some 1,350 light-years away. George Herbig and Guillermo Haro first spotted these nearby jets in the 1950s, lending them the namesake Herbig-Haro objects.

short-lived phase of star formation, lasting only about 100 000 years. They are called Herbig-Haro (HH) objects, named after George Herbig and Guillermo Haro, who studied the outflows in the 1950s. Astronomers still dont know what role jets play in the star formation process or exactly how the
