Abstract:

A digital optical network (DON) is a new approach to low-cost, more compact optical transmitter modules and optical receiver modules for deployment in optical transport networks (OTNs). One important aspect of a digital optical network is the incorporation in these modules of transmitter photonic integrated circuit (TxPIC) chips and receiver photonic integrated circuit (RxPIC) chips in lieu of discrete modulated sources and detector sources with discrete multiplexers or demultiplexers.

Abstract:

Systems and methods of increasing the performance of computer networks, especially networks connecting users to the Web, are provided. Performance is increased by reducing the latency the client experiences between sending a request to the server and receiving a response. A connection cache may be maintained by an agent on the network access equipment to more quickly respond to request for network connections to the server. Additionally, the agent may maintain a cache of information to more quickly respond to requests to get an object if it has been modified. These enhancements and other described herein may be implemented singly or in conjunction to reduce the latency involved in sending the requests to the server by saving round-trip times between computer network components.

Abstract:

Set forth herein are processes and materials for sintering dense thin green films comprising lithium-stuffed garnet powder and a binder to obtain sintered lithium-stuffed garnet thin films. Some of the processes, herein, include providing a first setter and a second setter, wherein the first setter and second setter each include at least 5 atomic % lithium (Li) per setter; placing the green film on the first setter; placing the second setter within 2 cm of the green film but not in contact with the green film; and heating the green film to at least 900 C.

Abstract:

Systems and methods for implementing a start-stop feature on a vehicle powered at least in party by an internal combustion engine are described. The method includes receiving, at an electronic control unit (“ECU”) of the vehicle, an indication that the vehicle is in line at a drive-thru. The method further includes determining, by the ECU, a number of start-stop events anticipated during the drive-thru. The method includes determining, by the ECU, an approximate stop time for each of the number of start-stop events. The method further includes determining, by the ECU, that a battery of the vehicle has enough remaining charge to power a plurality of vehicle components during implementation of the start-stop feature. The method includes implementing, by the ECU, the start-stop feature in which the internal combustion engine is turned off for at least a portion of the time when the vehicle is stopped.
