Abstract:
A system to remotely report the load condition of a railroad car including a mechanism to sense the load condition in the form of a switch responsive to load condition to change the state of an electrical circuit, a controller to recognize the state of the circuit and a radio wave transmitter directed by the controller to report the condition to a remote receiver. Load is sensed by recognition of the distance between two components of the car, one which remains relatively fixed regardless of the weight of the car, the other which moves relative to the first component as the car weight changes.

Abstract:
The present disclosure is directed to cable seal locks with a body assembly integrated with structures defining storage or transportation chambers or compartments or the closure member components therefor. A cable seal lock body assembly is integrated with a component defining a receptacle or a separate mounting housing. The housing, in one form includes a slot to receive a mounting strap. In other forms, the housing includes a mounting base and a separate top portion that receives the lock body assembly. The top portion and base are assembled after attachment of the base to a component of a storage compartment or closure member. The lock body housing prevents removal of the top portion from the base and the base from the component.

Abstract:
A vacuum relief assembly for a containment vessel. The vacuum relief assembly includes a normally closed vacuum activated valve that selectively permits flow into the containment vessel from the atmosphere through an interior passage. The valve body includes an inlet opening into the interior passage and an outlet opening normally closed by the valve. A screen member is disposed upstream of the inlet opening. The screen is cylindrical and is supported between a shoulder on the valve body and a cap secured to the valve body.

Abstract:
A vacuum relief assembly for a containment vessel. The vacuum relief assembly includes a normally closed pressure activated valve assembly that selectively permits flow into the containment vessel from the atmosphere through an interior passage. The valve body includes inlet opening into the interior passage. It also includes a torque acceptance portion to permit connection of the valve assembly to a vessel. A tamper resistant cap is secured in overlying relation to the inlet opening and the torque acceptance portion. The cap is secured with mechanism that provides indicia of tampering.

A pickling process for descaling metal includes a two-stage filtering process to remove pickling liquor fog, mist, and/or vapors from a gas collected during the descaling process. The process includes a two-stage filtering arrangement that includes a first stage filter, which is arranged to remove a liquid phase of the pickling liquor from the gas, and a second stage filter, which is arranged to remove a gaseous phase of the pickling liquor the said gas. The recovered pickling liquor can advantageously be recycled for reuse because it is recovered in a relatively higher concentration that has heretofore been possible.

Abstract:
A system for controlling the hydrogen/hydrocarbon mole ratio in a continuous hydrocarbon conversion process in which hydrogen is consumed in a catalytic reaction zone. Applicable to processes in which the reaction zone effluent is separated to provide a liquid product phase and a hydrogen-rich vaporous phase, a portion of the latter being recycled to the catalytic reaction zone, the control system affords improved overall operation in addition to increased catalyst activity and stability. Analyzers are utilized to monitor composition characteristics of the charge stock and liquid product, and the hydrogen concentration of the vaporous phase introduced into the reaction zone. Representative process output signals are transmitted to comparator/computer means which compares the rate of change of the composition characteristics and the hydrogen concentration, and generates additional, comparator output signals which are utilized within the control system for regulating the hydrogen/hydrocarbon mole ratio.
Method And Apparatus For Maintaining A Relationship Between Separate Objects
A method of maintaining first and second objects in a desired relationship. The method involves obtaining a fastener having a body with an elongate shank. The body has a head with a blocking surface. The shank is configured to engage a surrounding bore surface on or associated with at least one of the first and second objects to cause the shank to advance axially in a tightening direction while turned in one direction. The fastener body is engaged at a location spaced from the head to turn the shank in the one direction, thereby causing the shank to draw the head so as to move the blocking surface on the head towards a selected holding position relative to one of the first and second objects wherein the fastener is in a fastened state. The invention is also directed to the fastener construction.
