Abstract:

A communications outlet includes eight outlet tines positioned adjacent one another and defining four pairs of outlet tines. The fourth and fifth outlet tines define a first pair, the first and second outlet tines define a second pair, the third and sixth outlet tines define a third pair, and the seventh and eighth outlet tines define a fourth pair. Each outlet tine has a free end near to which a plug contact is adapted to touch and each outlet tine has a fixed end coupled through a corresponding conductive trace to a corresponding conductive wire termination contact. The communications outlet includes a first modal alien crosstalk compensation stage connected to the outlet tines associated with the second, third, and fourth pairs. The first modal alien crosstalk compensation stage includes independent capacitive components operably responsive to differential signals on the third pair to introduce common mode signals onto the second and fourth pairs that have the opposite polarity of common mode signals on the second and fourth pairs at points where the plug contacts connect with the outlet tines.

Abstract:

A communications outlet includes eight outlet tines positioned adjacent to one another and define four pairs of outlet tines. The internal crosstalk compensation stage is operable to provide positive compensation for internal crosstalk between pairs corresponding to the tines to which the conductive fingers of the flexible printed circuit board are attached.

Abstract:

A substrate operable to construct a male-type connector, a female-type connector, and/or a multi-outlet module. The substrate has a plurality of circuits and an edge card male connector including contacts for each circuit. For each circuit, the substrate has a ground plane connected to one or more of the contacts for the circuit. The ground planes may be implemented as localized, electrically floating, isolated ground planes. The substrate may include multiple layers upon which portions of the circuits and ground planes may be disposed. Abstract:

A spring assembly for a communications jack including a plurality of jack contacts each electrically connectable to a corresponding plug contact of a communications plug. First and second jack contacts carry a first differential signal. Fifth and sixth jack contacts carry a second differential signal. The jack contacts carrying the first differential signal are adjacent a third jack contract and the jack contacts carrying the second differential signal are adjacent a fourth jack contract. For each jack contact, the assembly has a conductive spring member electrically connected to the jack contact that biases the jack contact against a corresponding plug contact. To reduce crosstalk, the spring members connected to the first and second jack contacts are each capacitively coupled to the fourth jack contact, and the spring members connected to the fifth and sixth jack contacts are each capacitively coupled to the third jack contact.

Abstract:

A device topology definition system works in conjunction with a location indicia detector, such as a topology key or detector, to simplify entry of device location information in a device monitoring system. To mitigate the tedium of entering location information for each device being monitored, the topology key or detector can be inserted into a data port or aperture of a device, or otherwise detect location indicia located on or proximate to a device, and a topology definition system of the device monitoring application will read topology information from the key or detector and logically associate the topology information with the device's identifier. This association is recorded as part of a global topology data set for the monitored devices maintained by the device monitoring application. In the case of a topology key, the topology information stored on the key can be modified prior to inserting the key into another device, allowing device location information to be quickly entered into the device monitoring application without requiring a user to enter the location information manually at the monitoring application's user interface.
