Abstract:
Information is identified as sensitive and a lapsed time job (Chron Job) is created that will allow the deletion of sensitive information after a period of time. The interval could be set to be longer than vacation or other planned use, and yet short enough to limit the period where risk to the organization or individual is incurred. The Chron Job could be integrated with the user's calendar, such that the Chron Job considers holiday time as a means of delaying execution of the Chron Job which would allow a shorter interval to be selected. In addition to deletion of the information identified as sensitive, additional steps could also be taken, such as the purging of the recycle bin, modification of the FAT, and optionally the deletion of related information. Once information is identified as sensitive, the information and derivative works are tracked and managed.

Abstract:
An exemplary embodiment builds on the idea of presence and SIP messaging in conjunction with a profile comprising, for example, a lookup table and a rules module, to assist with one or more of reminders, actions, endpoint maintenance, availability, endpoint capabilities and session management. One exemplary embodiment provides a message-based notification system. SIP allows a user to associate themselves with a number of different User Agents (UAs). This means that a user may have a presence on more than one UA at any given time, e.g., soft phone, PDA, and workstation. One exemplary embodiment utilizes this fact in connection with monitoring and determining if a message is a trigger-type message to provide more timely and relevant notifications to users.

Abstract:
A unified communications appliance provides integration of various types of information, regardless of the modality, in a common, centralized interface where the various types of information are grouped based on what they are related to. For example, as is common with most modalities of information exchange, there exists a “subject” that is present in one of the fields of communication. The ability to associate all of the types of communication with a common “subject” (or conversation) and provide an interface that allows access to the various types of information, regardless of the modality is provided by the unified communications interface.

Abstract:
A communication device can be equipped with global positioning system (GPS) equipment and one or more accelerometers and/or gyroscopes that can be used to determine one or more of the direction or velocity at which the communication device is “cast” by coupling the location information of the communication device, such as using GPS coordinates, cell tower triangulation, or the like, with the “cast direction” of the communication device—thereby creating a cast vector. The strength of the cast may be analyzed to assist with determining how far the cast vector should be projected. The communication device can then determine which, if any, other communications device, entities, and/or objects are within the cast vector. The direction and strength of the cast can be used to assist in creating either a two or three-dimensional sensible area, that originates with the location of the calling party, and extends therefrom a certain distance.

Abstract:
Dynamic device management is provided based on a change in context. The management can be for one or more of icons, application, operating system(s), preferences, display characteristics, and the like. Detection and/or monitoring of one or more of presence information, environmental information, user information, recent activity information, inbound/outbound communication information, external stimuli information, geopositional information, temporal information, calendar information, user information, biometric information, and security information can be used as inputs to determining a change in this context.

Abstract:
Systems and methods for providing special handling for certain types of communications are provided. More particularly, a normally secured access point can permit emergency communications to be transmitted in connection with unauthorized communication devices. Supplemental communications, for example to websites included in a predefined list by a communication device, can also be permitted once an emergency communication by that communication device has been allowed. Accordingly, emergency communications can be supported, while continuing to limit access with respect to non-emergency communications.
