Abstract:
A wiper blade for cleaning the surface of glass in a vehicle utilizes a wiper-providing body including a spine portion and a wiping element for engaging the surface of glass to be cleaned and an elongated cleaning element which is mounted for movement relative to the spine portion. Juxtaposed magnetic devices are secured within the spine portion and the cleaning element for biasing the cleaning element away from the spine portion of the wiper-providing portion so that during use of the wiper blade, the cleaning element is biased toward the glass surface by the repelling forces of the magnetic devices and is maintained in a spaced relationship with the spine portion so that during use of the wiper blade, the cleaning element is permitted to shift in position relative to the wiper-providing element and the spine portion.

Abstract:
A wiper blade having a rubber element for engaging glass as the wiper blade is moved thereacross and a method of making the blade utilizes a brush element having a plurality of bristles having ends for engaging glass as the wiper blade is moved thereacross. The brush element is joined alongside the rubber element to form a unitary structure therewith so that as the wiper blade is moved across the glass, the ends of the bristles and the rubber element move in engagement with the glass.
Two embodiments of swimsuits providing flotation for the wearer of the suits are disclosed, in addition to methods of constructing such suits and a specialized tool facilitating the construction of such suits. The suits include a series of lower flotation pads located approximately adjacent the center of mass of the wearer, which pads provide the majority of buoyancy for the suit and its wearer. Upper flotation pads are located at the upper back and chest areas, to keep the body of the wearer of the suit upright in the water and preclude the lengthy immersion of the wearer's head or breathing passages. Both a generic suit and a suit tailored primarily for boys and men are disclosed. Methods of construction for the two suits are disclosed, in which specific steps preclude the need for time consuming and laborious hand sewing operations. A specialized tool is also disclosed, which tool facilitates the insertion of the foam pads into the pockets of the suits.
A vent device (10) for communicating air from the duct of an air supply system into an environment, such as a room of a building, includes a body (12) having a passageway (18) therethrough for receiving air from the air supply system, with the body (12) defining a first opening (20) for placing the passageway in fluid communication with the air supply system. Also included is a filter housing defining a filter slot (46), the filter housing having an inner wall (50) provided with a plurality of first vent openings (54) for being selectively placed in communication with the passageway of the body. Further, the filter housing has an outer wall provided with a plurality of second vent openings communicating with the filter slot and the room in the building so as to communicate air from the filter slot into the room. The vent device also includes a filter (58) for being removably received in the filter slot of the filter housing, the filter defining an enclosure (60) having a cavity (62) which houses a filter material (63). The enclosure (60) has an inner and outer walls (64, 66), with the inner wall (64) being provided with a plurality of third vent openings (68) and the outer wall (66) being providing with a plurality of fourth vent openings (70) which register with the third vent openings (68) to provide air flow through the filter (58).
