Embodiments include a method of signal processing in which each of a set of individual estimates of a transmitted symbol is added to a combined symbol estimate based on a relation between a signal quality value corresponding to the individual estimate and a threshold value, where the threshold value is based on a maximum among the signal quality values.

Abstract:

It was discovered that insulin binding to insulin receptors signals the upregulation of expression of the liver enzyme deiodinase 1 (Dio1), which in turn activates the ApoA-1 promoter, thereby thereby increasing ApoA-1 expression (primarily in the liver), that in turn raises the levels of plasma ApoA-1, the major and necessary protein in HDLC. Certain embodiments of the invention are directed to methods for increasing circulating HDLC levels in an animal by administering therapeutically effective amounts of Dio1, or by increasing the level of Dio1 through gene therapy.

Abstract:

By hijacking endogenous E3 ligase to degrade protein targets via the ubiquitin-proteasome system, PROTACs (PRoteolysis TArgeting Chimeras) provide a new strategy to inhibit protein targets that were previously regarded as undruggable. The compounds described herein comprise a photolabile group on PROTACs, enabling the degradation of protein targets in a spatiotemporally controlled manner By adding a photolabile caging group on ubiquitin recruiting moieties, light-inducible protein degradation was acheived. These opto-PROTACs display no activity in the dark, while restricted degradation can be induced at a specific time and rate by UVA-irradiation. Accordingly, these compounds provide light-controlled PROTACs and methods of using such compounds.
