A modular automated air transport system comprising an unmanned autonomous aircraft having a selectively detachable control systems portion and a structural air frame portion, wherein the structural air frame portion contains an interior cargo hold, aerodynamic members having control surfaces and at least one propulsion device attached to the structural air frame portion; and wherein the control system portion includes a control computer for autonomously controlling the flight of said air transport system from one known location to a second known location.
A firefighting aircraft adapted for use in an unmanned aircraft system includes a storage tank for firefighting fluid, having a plurality of filling ports spaced from one another. A probe carries a conduit that is in fluid communication with the storage tank. The conduit receives water from a body of water overflown by the aircraft. A filling system for controls the flow of water to and from the storage tank, and includes a remotely and automatically operable valve respectively associated with each filling port. A control system is in communication with each valve, and is operative to command the position of each valve to regulate the flow of fluid through each filling port. A baffle may be further provided internal to the storage tank at least partially defining a first chamber within the tank. The baffle may include one or more baffles, and be provided substantially vertically, horizontally, parallel with or transverse to a longitudinal axis of the aircraft, or otherwise, and is operative to contain water entering the tank through the filling port, substantially filling the first chamber before filing any other portion of the storage tank.
A folding anchor having a shank formed in two pieces and joined together with a keyhole fitting, and, upon pivoting the upper shank abuttingly overlies the lower shank. The fluke assemblies are pivotally connected via a coupling assembly at the lower end of the shank, the coupling assembly including a retaining member for pivotal coupling to the fluke assemblies and a slide block member having a passage for receiving the retaining member therein, displacement of one relative to the other enabling pivoting of the fluke assemblies between folded and unfolded positions, this being accomplished by 90 degree pivoting of the fluke assemblies about first axes generally parallel to the longitudinal axis of the shank, whereby the two flukes may be rotated toward each other into proximate facing relation, or away from each other into alignment. The interconnection of the shank with the retaining member, along with the dimensioning and configuration of the slide block member, enables a limited amount of angular movement on a second axis orthogonal to the longitudinal axis of the shank relative to the flukes to facilitate engagement and disengagement relative to the sea bed. The flukes are generally right triangularly configured and formed of plate metal, the shank portions are formed of metal bar stock, and the balance of the anchor is formed from readily available metal stock assembled with conventional metal fabrication methods, such as welding and bending.
A coolant hose clamp, in which an outer ring is provided with an inner cam surface configured for radial displacement of a plurality of arcuately configured clamping shoes, positioned within a retaining ring assembly. Rotation of the cam ring by a simple turning motion through a small angle relative to the retaining ring assembly actuates the clamping shoes radially inwards into clamping engagement with a flexible hose on a rigid fitting.
A field portable dental chair, collapsible to suitcase size, with pivotable outriggers for support, the chair including a bellows arrangement with a telescopic internal structure for raising and lowering the seat of the chair. The apparatus is formed, in part, of rigid members and, in part, flexible members contained within the rigid members for portability. Inflatable cushion members are provided for support of the head, back, seat and legs of a patient.
